This week, after the battle in Ophiuchus (which can be plotted over at the Summary Post), the main thing which needs to be plotted out is what data is being reported back to the Colossus and what reconstruction is being done as the Expedition prepares to leave (if the Network allows it).

If your character has strong notions about what should be reported back to the Colossus, let us know what they are under the REPORTS toplevel!

Under the INFORMATION toplevel, share new discoveries your characters have made, and who they would share them with!

Under the GROUPS toplevel, volunteer to team up with other groups of Programs exploring the ZODIAC System. Once you’ve sorted out what your characters are doing, one character from each group should comment under the Explorations toplevel.

Under the EXPLORATIONS toplevel, let us know what your group is doing!

Most exploring Programs will either:

a) bail out of the rail line on the grey train through Virgo, Libra, & Scorpio Sectors.
b) continue to map the Wastelands in Leo Sector.
c) attempt to restore power to unpowered areas, like the laboratories and observatories in Cancer Sector.

If you’re not sure where to explore, ask a high-priority Program of your faction for guidance!

Under the DEFENSES toplevel, let us know where your group will be when the grey-lit utilities, functions, and structures turn on them, and what you’ll be doing to stop or resist them!

Under the QUESTIONS toplevel, ask questions!

The details of the mingle provide general answers for what to expect on one of these trips. If your character is exploring somewhere else, exploring for some other reason, using some special skill or tactic to aid exploration, or looking for something in particular, let us know what they’re up to specifically in your comment and we’ll respond with a specific result.

The outcomes of these explorations and defenses will shape what’s uncovered in the next mingle!

In the meantime, with a Signifier back online, Declarification, the Signifiers' faction skill, is now available to be picked up during and after the jaunt! As with all other faction skills, during the jaunt you need to be refactioned to learn it; afterward, as long as at least one person in the thread has Interface, it can be taught normally.

Next Week: The blurred grey Programs launch a coordinated attack across every sector. They're undetectable by Program tech, use massive energy-drain attacks, move in perfect sync... and don't actually directly de-rez anyone, just hit and fade. (Note: Played-character grey Programs may participate in the attacks or not, at player discretion!)

Next Week: Exploration pushes onward and into Taurus sector. Despite the emptiness of the ZODIAC system, there’s a distinct feeling of being watched to contend with, and odd energy flickers.

We are still hoping to get the week 2 mingle up on Tuesday, as scheduled, but there is a non-zero chance it will be slightly delayed, as Matt is still dealing with family stuff. If it is delayed, we’ll let you know on Tuesday, and get the mingle up as close to then as possible.

Digital Frontier: Legacy Mode
May 7 - June 16

In the Network, more than a dozen Systems flourish - independent nations connected by high-speed data lines, overseen by Programs - humanoid beings made of pure information, each with its own Purpose and Priority in the System.

Only twice in the history of the Network has a System fully fallen to viral corruption - first the ZODIAC, and then the Grid. Five cycles ago, an expedition from other Systems managed to restore the Grid under very strange circumstances - but the rest of the Network, unconvinced that the recovered Programs weren’t concealing viral influence behind their unnatural behavior and outlandish stories, has kept the Grid under strict isolation.

Until now. The Colossus, a System admired for its rugged survivalism and powerful military, is willing to take a risk on the Grid. The Colossus is sending its own team of soldiers and experts to attempt to recover the lost ZODIAC System. Their expedition travels on a large, encapsulated vessel called the Rejuvenator, specifically meant to be difficult to control, to have new Data and Programs uploaded to it remotely - but to be totally unable to send any data back without Colossus approval. If the mission fails, the Rejuvenator will never be allowed to return.

But all the fresh-trained Programs from the Colossus are untested. To give them the best chance at success, the Rejuvenator was sent first to the Grid, to take on a volunteer crew. If the ZODIAC Initial Probe fails, the Grid will remain under lockdown. But if it succeeds, and the Colossus Programs send back a positive report, the Network will consider opening their Ports to the Grid again, and letting its Programs rejoin civilization...
