Legacy Mode week 2 summary/week 3 plotting

A grey Program appears, followed by several more as it spreads its code around. RAA, meanwhile, hasn’t noticed anything’s wrong. S3NT0 is cheered by the sight of his original faction’s color. SARA spearheads recovery efforts. PiC0 uses the power outages to her advantage. MATH-U is on the lookout for Variables. THORN-E continues experimenting.

PHLP isn’t sure what to make of the utter lack of derezzed data. TATSU ponders Gemini Sector’s mysteries. ALT is Certainly Not Spying. A Very Awkward Monorail Ride relays several Programs to Gemini.

Raidou does not take his late arrival to the jaunt well. Gil suggests the Travelers look out for a mutineer. Malik wants to help MATH-U. Stone gets shot at out of nowhere. Naoki reports weirdness with Jean’s overlay, later confirmed by Pidge, who investigates the same thing happening to Matt and Shiro.

Next Week: The blurred grey Programs launch a coordinated attack across every sector. They're undetectable by Program tech, use massive energy-drain attacks, move in perfect sync... and don't actually directly de-rez anyone, just hit and fade. (Note: Played-character grey Programs may participate in the attacks or not, at player discretion!)

Folks with the grey-Program code are out and about when they should be recharging. The code's strong enough to disrupt Bond skills from other jaunts, as well as network access in investigators. Affected Programs aren't aware they're doing anything unusual, or notably tired, in their 'daytime' activities.

Raidou used Insight on the vault in Taurus City and learned it was an armory.

Claudia is going to grab Jules and see if they can't put their somewhat-disreputable-hacker knowledge to good use figuring out what's causing the grey-Program disruption, and how to fix or stop it.

SHINJI is going to end up Fighting Some Shit. I'm looking for a good Interrogate opening for him and have a few possibilities, but I haven't ruled out ineffectually shouting 'STATE YOUR BUSINESS!!!!!' at some of Team Grey. (Per Matt, Interrogate will only work on someone in Grey Mode if it's done via Interface, and I don't... much want to play with that angle, so that's out. XD)

Naoki I have fewer solid ideas for, but he's Very Concerned about this Grey Programs business, and will probably be helping with whatever SHIRO needs done.

BAR-3 is a Variable now!! And IDK what to do with that but it's definitely A Thing! He will absolutely continue science-ing with THORN-E too.

Gil will probably go and help fight the good fight with/against the grey Programs and I am not opposed to him getting converted

Naoya is going to be acting a little... off. Otherwise he's going to be trying to scavenge gear and cross over towards some of the areas that others have cleared.

If anyone wants to plot with running into him either in grey or nongrey mode, let me know.

And if anyone wants him to examine one of the greys when he's not in greymode that could also be hilarious.

Also now he's going to go try to find PiC0 and kill her, because Q'uila's dead. So. :|b

ARC is... going to be really badly alarmed by the attack and retreat to a safe place - probably in Gemini sector, because that's where he's been fixing the rail line. He may spend his Constructive Enlightenment this week getting it running again so people can get out of this sector.

Shiro will be deeply disturbed by the notion that he's inadvertantly join the Greys if someone tells him, but walling it off to deal with later and trying to figure out how to not do that anymore thanks. Depending on when the strike happens he may or may not be in it... or defending against it because don't touch his people dang it!!

ALT wants to Dataspike (not necessarily kill) one of the grey ones to gain information. Idk if it's going to be a PC or NPC yet, but if you're down for grey!Shiro to be on the opposite end of a hit and fade...? Regardless, if ALT gets enough information, it may be of interest to anyone infected later.

Malik Is going to do something either super interesting or incredibly stupid, depending on how folks want to look at it.

He's going to use Submerge on one of the I/O Towers.

I am not looking for anyone to stop him, but if people want to be there for the aftermath I'm down for planning!

Please let ALT Dayaspike a Grey. For science. It'll be like Christmas. Not only is it the most IC thing for him after so much attacking, but also a logical continuation of his beta testing some invisibility gadgets last week. He wants information. Also, I need the skill proof this month.

ETA: He's still default non-lethal, but that could swing to derezzing Grey Programs or hostile Programs in general, if something comes up/any information he learns goes against his Creed Purpose, mainly to protect Cryptos.

RAA-7 will avoid anything that includes fighting and may retreat back inside the Rejuvenator for the time being for safety.

??? however, will be looking to increase its allies. While he wants to avoid fighting, he does carry around a dataspike that he can use to forcibly carry out his Purpose. He's also likely going to start planning on infecting the Rejuvenator key programs in the future.

If your character would like to get converted into a grey, please contact me! If your character would like to fight him, that also works. Just a fair warning from his initial plotting blurb: this code transforms them into a mysterious spy and supremely capable combatant with a deficit of personality and a larger agenda.



Meanwhile Pidge avoids fighting at all costs because she doesn't want to end up fighting people she knows and cares about - but will be analyzing data on her control panel or her computer in Liminal Space to try to get to the bottom of this.

Gil can be overpoweringly strong bc of his Ogreness and Contracts but he's also only a semi-capable fighter at best.

Battler isn't that much of a physical fighter, but he can be pretty bright when he needs to be, so if you want him helping to figure out things, he can be where you want him to be, otherwise he may stay and keep an eye on THORN-E so she doesn't try to create a logic error to bring her brother back.

Beatrice is definitely interested in keeping Thorne from doing anything especially terrible, and she's a few spells that she can use to help Battler not get killed. I think. I should check up on how magic and liminal skills work inside computers.

I have an Investigator who's very interested in tracking the murder culprit down for reasons unrelated to the victim (and a lot more to do with the means and motive). She doesn't need to be successful, and this isn't even necessarily going to end in a fight, but are there any "physical" clues that would point to PiCO? Or any potential for them to run into each other, as Beatrice would also be interested in keeping an eye on Thorne?

Beatrice is going to be looking for the source behind the grayness and the apparent shape-shifting murderer we just found out about and could use some help. She's not one for pitched battles unless she has to, but she's also not going to hold back if she ends up in a place that's being attacked. She might need some persuasion not to just derez hostile Infiltrators and hope they wake up normal.

Rise I don't have much in mind for other than continuing to explore and not get killed by coordinating local defenses with the Defenders.

Berne will probably want to help Beato with the mystery and will actively abuse her Oracle powers to do so, cause getting murdered isn’t as much fun as doing murder.

MATH-U is going to be holed up in one of the I/O Towers during the seige, and attempting not to die. This may be complicated by the fact that he's probably going to glitch / have memory issues during the middle of it.

He's also going to want to continue seeing if Variables can help fix him, and will be trying to use the I/O Tower to contact a User.

SARA will be flipping out. Specifically, she will be all over the use of overwhelming force to contain the attack, and working on ways to recover/refactor CODE: MALBOLGE GREY. She will then attempt to secure the I/O towers.

Berne will be investigating the murders with disturbing glee (lots more fun than murdering or being murdered!).

RICA will be holed up in the I/O towers helping with Team Talk To ROSE. If she becomes aware of the ID Thief she'll point the finger at Berne.

I dropped the ball with MADOCA and will backtag her getting her disc jacked earlier. Then she will provide the helpful hint of "glitching kludge my disc got jacked."

Kanji/TATSU is going to be focusing on locking those grey messes and any other troublemakers out of 'their' I/O Tower and keeping the damn place running, thank you very much.

HARU, on the other hand, will mostly be making piles of pixels out of said grey types.

In both cases, I'm not really interested in interacting directly with PC grey Programs while they're in anony-mode? Sorry about that.

THORN-E is going to be part of the I/O tower defense squad! She's also going to be creating a Frankensignifier out of all those disc fragments she's collected and almost certainly yelling, "IT'S ALIIIIIIVE!" at some point.

CHIE is going to be fighting the Greys, possibly with a light naginta.

The initial plan for NER0 was to have him get caught up in an encounter with the blurry grey Programs and maybe tussle a bit and help some of the programs under his command out of a tight spot... but now there's also the matter of the copycat Program that's out there somewhere. If someone can get word to him about it, he's going to divert some spare cycles to tracking her down. They have a history. (Does it seem likely that anyone's going to let word of what happened to Q'uila/what C0Pi did get out of investigator circles?)

DAK-1 is off mucking with the I/O Towers, and will be helping defend it from grey Program attacks! She's the swordiest nerd on the nerd mission, yessir.

PiC0 is going to join the fray with the greys eventually, malik and I are trying to get our log resolved as soon as possible so we can get fighting! If Nero is anywhere near the I/O towers that's where she'll be, otherwise try hitting uo Q'uila and Monx after her resurrection :)

S3NT0 is likely going to be really angry this is interfering with his research, how rude and one of the Programs hanging around the I/O Tower. I am also looking for someone to try to get information out of him somehow because I need a proof for his plot skill. (Said information is going to be wrong regardless of priority or anything, because S3NT0 is that kid who writes the wrong answers on his paper when he sees someone cheating off of him on a test.)

Jules is going to be screaming and forced to show off just what five dots in Computers can do--he's going to hack his little heart out so everyone doesn't die, in his overly dramatic assessment of the situation.

Both my boys are fighting things this week. Stone spent all of last week searching for these gray bastards, and you can be sure he will be dive-bombing some of them when they attack. If anybody wants to get captured/knocked out/carried away by a giant Variable, hmu.

R1DK will be guarding the I/O towers where all the sciency people are hiding I guess? He really wants to get those working or if they already are, he wants to use them to talk to a User or two, but I dunno if that's going to happen or not.

I'm not interested in either of them getting refactioned/corrupted though. Just in them smashing things.

My crew are all combat-capable, so chances are they'll end up fighting some greys somewhere, although I'm not looking to get anyone infected. Raidou and Yukki/Ψ-QCI were last in Taurus, although I don't know if they're still going to be this week. Raidou is probably using Questing Sense again, once I figure that out.

Minako and Cassandra are... somewhere? I don't really have any ideas for either of them.

GREYS WANTED

OKAY SO I would kinda like to have MATH-U use his plot skill (Systems Crash) on a Grey in defence. This is apparently possible, but only if they're Interfacing at the time.

I am admittedly, not sure what the result would be from this for said Grey - this is what I've got from Matt so far on this:

"The details would depend largely on circumstance and could range from minor (they're out as long as he is) to major (refactioning, permanent glitches) depending on intent, depth of Interface, or other situational circumstances."

So yes - would anyone be up for this?
