C H A R A C T E R;
NAME: Right Suzuki
CANON: Ressha Sentai ToQger
POINT IN CANON: Post-series
AGE: 10 in his kid form (true age); appears to be around 18 in adult form.
APPEARANCE: Here is where both his adult and child forms are shown together. (Right's the one in the red jacket.) Also, here is his ToQger suit as well.
CANON HISTORY: Wiki Link
CANON PERSONALITY: First off, Right is the eternal optimist, always trying to look on the bright side of things. Even during those times when things are dark and dreary, or the few times his team's brought to tears, Right's the first among them to push aside those terrible feelings with a smile and a friendly gesture of support. He's also very friendly to anyone who's not blantatly evil, and trust people easily - almost to a fault. A loyal friend, he's the type to stick by someone's side to the bitter end, if need be, and he'll rather take the hit for you than the other way around. In fact, he has confessed at one point that he really can't turn his back on anyone that really needs help - even if it turns out to be a trap.

Second, Right is almost always hungry. He has a huge appetite to rival his vast Imagination. He's often seen eating enough to feed three or four people at once. Unlike many big eaters, though, Right will eat anything, so long as it's decently prepared/cooked/etc. He has no preference for flavors or food groups, and he delights in discovering new food items to eat. Granted, he can push his hunger aside of serious matters arise, and his friends and his duties as a ToQger are more important than his next meal. Food is so serious a topic for him that anyone deying food to anyone else for any reason is a trigger button for his anger. He will beat up anyone taking anyone else's food away intentionally; thankfully, this has only happened once in canon, and the purpetrator in question was a Shadow Line Monster. However, sometimes he does think with his stomach, and that has gotten him into trouble. For example, he was so hungry at one point that he confessed to a crime he did not commit just because they offered to feed him free food if he did confess. Another example is that his foraging for food in the wilderness caused him to not tell the others about an important train he found until after he both ate and defeated the Monster of the Week (MOTW). Needless to say, his friends gave him much grief on both occassions.

Third, Right tends to be very impulsive and blunt. Never one to look back for very long, he always pushes forward, rushing ahead towards the next interesting thing. One one hand, this is useful in that he'll usually jump into the fray first whenever he and his friends come across any Shadow Line Monsters, and he'll always volunteer to do various important tasks, like finding Support Trains that were previously lost. On the other hand, this sometimes result in him losing the bigger picture and focusing on certain things while ignoring everything else. That same impulsiveness causes him to speak bluntly at times as well, often without initially realizing that what he says can be taken negatively. He means well, though, and he'll usually apologize once he realize what he did wrong.

Finally, Right does take being a ToQger very seriously. He understands that he's fighting against the forces of Evil and Darkness, and willing accepts the duties of being a Sentai hero with hardly a second thought. Granted, being a hero is cool. But it's also vital to the survival of the world and all the Light, Goodness, and Imagination in it. He doesn't tolerate any blantant evil for very long, and will do whatever he can to defeat it. He has a tougher time, however, handling someone who's morals are in grey areas. He'll give them the benefit of a doubt, though, if they wish to improve themselves and be not True Evil.

POINT OF DEPARTURE: Right is taken post-TV series, where he and his friends have returned to being their kid selves only and are now back in their hometown, living normal kid lives. At this point, none of them are riding on the Rainbow Line, with the exception of ToQ #6, who is directly employed by the Rainbow Line to begin with. He could very well have been taken just a few months after the end of the series, when he was heading home one day from playing with his friends at the huge tree that was their 'Secret Base'.
ABILITIES:
---Martial Arts - Right has been trained in karate by his grandfather, who is a karate master in their hometown. While he is still a student (his exact belt color and rank was never stated in canon), he's trained enough to use those skills in battle with. If the situation calls for it, he can Imagine himself fighting a different style for a short period of time; however, it can only be styles that are popularized in media, such as Kung-Fu or Jeet Kun Do (Bruce Lee's school of fighting).
---Weapons Master - While Right's primary weapon is a sword and he's the swordsmaster of his team, he does know how to fight (and fight well) with axes, hammers, guns, rods/batons and punching knives/daggers.
---Hammerspace, Level 1 - Where Right normally keeps his transformation gear, as well as his blaster/blade combo weapon.
---Imagination - This is the signature power of his team, with Right himself having the strongest Imagination among them. Imagination is the power used to fight against the Shadow Line, once it's weaponized by the ToQgers. Imagination is that sense of belief in one's self in being able to visualize the outcome of what you want to do in any situation, and then being able to make it happen just the way you want it to. For example, when Right imagines how a fight scene can play out, he usually sees himself winning in the end; and 9 times out of 10, he's able to make it happen in reality just the way he imagined it to be. Another example is that Right makes himself believe that a strong attack against him isn't that strong, or he can pretend that whatever pain he's feeling isn't there for a few moments. He can even use his Imagination to make himself believe that he's stronger than he normally is, or run faster than he normally could, or jump higher that he normally would. And much of that is before he puts on the magic spandex suit, which only makes him and his Imagination even stronger. His Imagination is strongest, however, when the Image in his mind is shared among others, mainly his teammates.
---Drawbacks - Tying to the above, there are limits to even Right's own, vast Imagination. For example, he can't use it to recreate city-leveling attacks, even in his ToQger suit. Also, there has been a few times where even his Imagination doesn't work that well against certain foes - either because they're not inheritedly weak to it, or they're just extremely powerful (see: the leader of the Shadow Line). Plus, he can't use his Imagination to make himself stronger, faster, etc. than normal for very long - no more than several minutes. This is because he's just pretending to ignore the limits of his physical body, and doing so for too long will wear himself out if he's not carful. He can last longer doing so in his suit, but he'll be no less tired afterwards if it's a big strain to begin with.
---Mental Aspect - Right has a slightly psychic sense of seeing another person's Imagination at work. For example, if someone is day-dreaming next to him, and he's looking their way, he can 'see' that daydream in his own mind. Normally, this is used to share the Image of how he and his teammates want to win whatever battle they're facing at that point of time. However, he can pick up the Imagination or Mental Image of anyone around him. (NOTE: This will be for imagination-based stuff only, and I do intend to make an Opt-In permissions post if he's accepted.)
INVENTORY:
---Tranformation Bracer - looks very similar to a railroad crossing. Opening the 'gate' will cause a white, dotted line to fall in-between him and anyone else around him. This has been used in canon to block enemies and push them back until the transformation is fully done.
---Red Ressha (Train) - Look like a toy train, but is used by Right to both transform into his ToQger suit as well as summon the full-size version of that particular Rainbow Line Train. In the game, he won't be able to summon his train unless they are actually in his world, or in a world/Jaunt that allows giant train mechas to be summoned. Also, while in the suit, he'll be able to summon and use his signature blade, Rail Slasher.
---Hyper Ressha - Looks like a golden toy train, but is actually used to give Right the powers and train-shaped armor of Hyper Form by being inserted into his bracer. This is his power-up form and can be used to take out giant mook-level monsters by himself, but will only be used for the really tough boss fights.
---ToQ Blaster - His gun/blade combo weapon.
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW? While Right's true form and age is that of a ten-year-old kid, which will be shown in Liminal Space, I do wish to have him take on his adult form during his Jaunts. Not only is he stronger and more powerful as an adult, it will also help him blend in better, so as to not raise too much suspicion among the natives.

Also, should any of his teammates be apped into the game at a later point, I do want to inform the mods that he and his teammates are able to switch to each other's trains when needed, allowing them to switch colors and weapons between them. While this may not come up, I do want to confirm that this is an in-canon ability between ToQgers ahead of time, so as to prevent anyone mistaking it for god-modding.

S A M P L E S;
ACTIONSPAM SAMPLE: So...lemme see if I get this right. We're supposed to help these people called 'Trumps' do what they think is right in order to save the worlds? And we actually get new powers and such in order to save these worlds?

[The ten-year-old kid smiles upon getting that confirmation.] That sounds like fun! I mean, I've already fought against the forces of Darkness and won, so this should be easy! Especially if we all work together...I bet we'll save all the worlds in no time!

[His eyes suddenly light up like a Christmas tree.] Ah! Maybe we'll get really cool powers, too, like being able to fly! Or fire lazer beams out of our eyeballs! Or better yet, turn bad guys into food! [He then thinks a little more seriously for a moment.] Though...wouldn't that make the food taste terrible? I mean, it would be full of Evil, and I don't think anything with evil in it tastes that good. Not to mention, we'd be eating people, and I think that's evil in of itself...

[The boy shakes his head.] Anyway, it should be fun, visiting all these worlds and figuring out how to save them. I mean, it's gotta be a really huge threat if it's threatening more than just one world, right? Then let's go save them!

PROSE SAMPLE: It's still a little weird, being in an adult body again so soon. Right had honestly thought that he would have to grow up into adulthood the normal way, after returning with his friends to their hometown. Still, at least he can mingle with the natives in this world without raising many suspicions. Especially since not many people will even think of looking twice at a young working-class man walking through one of the poorer boroughs of 1887 London. Good thing, too, since his eyes are still adjusting to his newly gained ability of reading people's auras. Just about everyone he's passed by are humans - not all of them good people, per se, but still human and full of colors. He glances down at himself, amazed at how bright and multi-colored his own aura is...

His reverie is broken with shouts from a nearby alley. Right looks up to see wisps of darkness rolling out of the mouth of that alley, and it makes his blood run cold as he rushes over and into that alley. He stops upon seeing the following site: A twelve-year-old boy is trying - and failing - to get a basket back from a bunch of adult guys. They're all wearing strips of dark purple cloth here and there on their clothing, signalling that they were part of a gang. And the tallest and bulkiest among them appears to be their leader, sneering as he holds the basket high out of the kid's reach. While most of the gang members had muted colors indicating that they were not-good humans, the gang leader had an aura of pure darkness. And that darkness rolls off of him and across the ground of the alley towards Right in little wisps. From Right's personal experience, anyone emitting pure darkness either has been corrupted by it...or is not what they appear to be.

But while seeing that darkness makes Right freeze for a moment, it's not for very long. Just listening to the brief bit of conversation between the boy and the gang leader confirms that the basket is full of delicious food...and that darkness-filled jerk refuses to hand it back to its rightful owner. Theft alone is terrible, but stealing food from a starving kid? That's enough to make Right's blood boil with the fires of justice. And before he's aware of it, he's calling out for the guy to pick on someone his own size.

Conveniently forgeting, of course, that it's probably gonna take more than just a lone hero like Right to fully defeat a potential demon of darkness.

C H A R A C T E R;
NAME: Worick Arcangelo
CANON: Gangsta
POINT IN CANON: Chapter 37-ish
AGE: 36
APPEARANCE: 5'9" and very fit with dishwater blond hair and blue eyes.

...Eye, since he's only got the one (his right) and wears a patch over the left. Kinda scruffy looking, laid back sort of body language and posture. Large tribal tattoo across his upper back from shoulder to shoulder.

CANON HISTORY: Worick @ the Gangsta Wiki
CANON PERSONALITY: Worick is, for all intents and purposes and outward appearances, a pretty chill dude: a teenage boy's apparent maturity but with the actual confidence of a grown ass man........ Charming and friendly to most (and a playful smartass to the rest unless you're the target of a job) he's both kind and compassionate, caring for not just his friends but also strangers and even antagonists depending on the situation- he clearly felt for Alex, enough that he was willing to take the risk and give her a place to stay in spite of Chad's warnings that it might piss the wrong people off, and he stopped to collect Doug's soggy ass on the way back to Doc Theo's even though he'd just tried to kill both Danny Monroe and Nic, recognizing the attack for the petty act of rebellion it was.

As both a means of survival and a fun way to pass the time, Worick likes to flirt with women. A lot. It's mostly harmless, but if the relationship is close enough he's absolutely the kind of dude who will graze a boob if he thinks he can get away with it. (There would be a permissions post for that sort of Anime Sleaze of course- I'm not looking to make anyone uncomfortable with a trope that seriously needs to die screaming...) He's been known to make inappropriate comments from time to time. Again- there's that teenage boy mentality. Or the sex worker mentality... Or a bit of both.

Under the playful and cheery demeanor, he's actually pretty hard and prone to keeping people at arm's length to protect himself; he's the type of guy who'll complain about surface shit until kingdom come but when confronted with something deep or (gasp) actually intimate will change the subject or artfully dodge the question with some well-placed flattery. There's also a bit of a sadistic streak in there if he feels like it's deserved, and while most of the time he'd a git-r-done type of businessman, he's not above 'playing with his food' when a job gets personal. Like the wiki says, his worldview as a whole is definitely a bit on the glass half-empty side- likely due to the abuse he suffered as a child and the atmosphere of his life- and while he does put up a good front of optimism when it's necessary there's definitely some darkness and insecurity in there. He's seen how bad 'bad' can be, and that isn't something he's forgotten even if he doesn't always act like it.

Still, as also both a hitman and a gigolo he's pretty good at compartmentalizing and his defense mechanisms of humor and derailing conversations when they get too close more or less get him by on the day-to-day. He works when he needs to work, plays when it's at all possible, and is decently well-adjusted, all things considered. He isn't easily knocked down or discouraged for long.

ABILITIES:

* Ridiculously good memory, compared to hyperthymesia in canon; Worick can read and recall books just by flipping through them, and remembers every face he's ever seen- Everything his senses experience" is how they put it
* Skill with firearms and decent physical fitness (though he isn't much of a runner, god dammit smokers' lungs!!).
* Sign Language - he and Nic learned sign language together as children when Worick realized his shiny new pint-sized bodyguard couldn't speak

INVENTORY; A pack of cigarettes & lighter, a handgun and its holster, clothes (see above)
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW?

S A M P L E S;
ACTIONSPAM SAMPLE:

[First time addressing the network as a whole is go!

Shame it's not something a little more fun... BUT MOVING ON:]

So... That really did just happen, huh? Vampries... You know, I usually don't bite that hard-- [Okay, maybe a little fun. ...Just a bit, even if it is more of a quiet, almost half-hearted attempt than full on waggling eyebrow stupidity; the 'unless you want me to' is barely even implied...!! Still, he's making an attempt to lighten the mood.] Anyway, after everything that went down back there I was kinda hoping someone here has a more embarrassing Infiltrator story than mine... [Can you hear the awkward back of the neck rub in his psychic voice? BECAUSE IT'S TOTALLY THERE.] Or at least give me something to work with. It can't be that bad every time, right? Give me some good news for a change.

[Anyone? Anyone? BUELLER......??]

Come on-- it'll be good for morale.

[...His morale, anyway. Help a brother out, fellow Travelers. It doesn't even have to be a true story, at this point. Anything will do.]

PROSE SAMPLE: THE GRIDDDDDDDDDDDD ;__;

Huh, okay, wow, so they weren't kidding about the whole new world thing... Imagine that. The dark and glassy plain Worick finds himself in once the smoke clears and the group seems to thin out is absolutely not like anything he's ever seen before outside of a grainy television screen (or that time he popped those mystery pills as a dare, all these lights kind of remind him of that actually), and while he had been warned, well... It's still a little weird, come on. Don't begrudge him his open-mouthed staring, okay??

And then there's the weird jumpsuit thing he's suddenly rocking (and yeah, we definitely mean rocking- there's something to be said about the body-hugging panels going on here), which obviously is in no way what he was wearing when they left that last place- Liminal Space, or whatever it is. Hmm...

Yeah, he can't help it. Craning his neck as far around as it'll go, he takes a nice long look at his backside before letting out a satisfied whistle. Yup, his ass looks great in this thing, whatever it is. That's kind of a silver lining. Sort of.

Unfortunately, the red-clad, cop looking asshole stomping his way over here all visor'd and ready to go doesn't seem to be appreciating the view. Worick actually lets out a tiny sigh- what a waste; if it'd been a lady cop he'd have been a step ahead of the game already...

In any case, he lifts his hands placatingly, eyeing up that baton at the guy's waist briefly before bring his gaze up to meet that scowl with a friendly, innocent smile.

"Hey man, take it easy-- right now my purpose is just to find a pack of smokes," he says with a light shrug as he lowers his hands slowly to tap his hips. "Seems like my pockets got lost on the way down..."

See, dude? There's nothing shady going on here, nothing shady at all. Just a guy wearing a fetish suit on a nice simple errand in LSDville. Worick peers over the guy's shoulder at a large glowing structure in the distance, flapping a hand in that direction.

"What about that place? Looks like I could get a pack over there, right...?"

A few of the others had gone that way, so he's thinking that's his best bet. There's not much else out here that he can see, and so at the very least it's a good place to start. TIME TO GET TO WORK!

...As soon as he can ditch this clown, of course.

NAME: Jyuushiko Ukitake (Jyuushirou Ukitake)
CANON: Bleach
POINT IN CANON: Immediately prior to the Fake Karakura Town arc
AGE: ~2000, appears late 40s, acts similarly
APPEARANCE: Jyuushiko is built along the same lines as her male counterparts - tall, thin, and mostly muscle. She's a few inches shorter, hovering closer to five foot ten (and if you point out that she's really tall, she will agree and tell you her whole family skews that way), and a little narrower through the shoulders. In contrast to most of her male counterparts, she has close-cropped hair, with longer bangs in front.
wavesandthunder: (squeals of girlish delight)

[personal profile] wavesandthunder 2015-10-28 01:58 am (UTC)(link)

CANON HISTORY: here
CANON PERSONALITY: Jyuushiko comes off immediately as a very friendly person - not invasively so, as she's unfailingly polite and socially aware enough to realize when she's starting to be pushy, but she does tend to treat everyone around her as an equal or as if they're part of her family. She's a very good listener, and as such is very easy to put trust in - trust which she will not betray, if she can help it. And while she doesn't trust in people blindly, she does not hold back her faith in others, and is very protective of those she cares about.

When it comes to dealing with her superiors, she's usually quite formal, although not to the point of being cold about it - it's simply that she's deferential to authority. At the same time, though, she has a very strong moral code, and /will/ question orders that violate her personal honor. She also takes a certain amount of pride in her independence, and is a very hardworking person, often taking on more than is expected of her, a trait she acquired as a way of proving herself to people who thought her illness made her weak or incapable.

When the situation demands it, she's very quick to drop the cheerful, friendly attitude and get serious. She fights honorably, but she doesn't play around. Fighting is a means to an end for Jyuushiko, not an end in of itself. She likes being strong, likes being able to protect the people she cares about, but she doesn't enjoy hurting people - it is simply a necessary evil.

Mentally, she's quite intelligent, though she lacks the education necessary to be really 'book smart' - she is, however, a good tactician. She's also quite good at understanding people, which leads to a strong knowledge of her subordinates' strengths and weaknesses, allowing her to place people in positions that they are well-suited for. This has earned her a reputation as a skilled leader with her peers, and a reputation as a thoughtful superior to her subordinates.

Emotionally, her weakness lies, somewhat ironically, with her strong sense of honor and pride. Because she was very sheltered as a child due to her frequent illnesses, she puts a great deal of faith in being able to do things for herself, and will sometimes push herself past her limits out of stubbornness. She is also sometimes guilty of putting a sense of pride and honor before actually getting the job done, or allowing others under her command to do so, which can have serious consequences - for instance, Kaien's death.

POINT OF DEPARTURE: Jyuushiko is a genderbend of a canonically male character. This largely doesn't affect actual canon events (as Jyuushirou is a relatively minor character in Bleach), though her backstory contains the following headcanons/minor canon divergences:

While very little is known about Ukitake's canon past, Jyuushiko is the oldest of eight children - three daughters and five sons. She was born into the world of Soul Society itself, rather than being born into the living world and then dying. When she was in the equivalent of her mid-teens, her parents were killed when Hollows - huge, barely sentient monsters that do nothing but hunger - attacked their family home. Jyuushiko herself was injured standing between the last wounded one and her younger siblings. The event marked a turning point in her life - while not the family heir, she was the oldest by a decent margin, and felt it was her responsibility to care for the rest of the family. The fight with the Hollow had also brought her rather strong spiritual power.

With the goal in mind of attaining a position that would allow her to support her family, she enrolled in the newly created Shino Academy - using a male name. A woman of her rank would have the ability to birth new souls, and would be expected to do as such, and her illness would be another mark against her. Record-keeping was poor, and she was from a large enough family that another son on the lists would be overlooked - and it would be easier for a boy to get in than a girl, or so her mental logic went.

She actually managed to succeed in keeping her true identity secret while at the academy, with a few notable exceptions. Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, the founder of the academy, and current captain-commander of the Gotei 13, was smart enough to see right through her disguise, but, being Yamamoto, chose not to say anything about it, and allow her to reveal herself. The other two people who managed to figure out the mystery were Shunsui Kyouraku, Ukitake's roommate, and Retsu Unohana, one of the healers working in the infirmary.

Once she attained captain status, after graduating, she slowly allowed her actual gender to become known - having rank protected her from most of the fallout of this, though there were still some who felt a woman was not fit to lead one of the fighting divisions. Much of her history remains the same as her canon counterparts, however, what shifts is her relationships with many of the characters. Jyuushiko has closer ties to many of the female characters than her male counterpart, particularly the female members of her division. She also considers Retsu to be a very close friend, on par with Shunsui who is (canonically) Ukitake's best friend.

One notable timeline difference occurs after the end of the Soul Society arc. With the threat of Aizen looming, Jyuushiko decided that it was time for 13th Division to have a lieutenant again. She chose Rukia Kuchiki as her vice-captain, which resulted in a bit of a shouting match with Byakuya, her older brother. Byakuya eventually caved, particularly when Jyuushiko had a coughing fit in the middle of the argument and Retsu got involved. All other events after this follow canon up to Jyuu's canonpoint.

ABILITIES:Jyuushiko is a highly skilled swordswoman, being proficient both with single blades, and somewhat more unusually, more complicated dual-wielding techniques. To non-mages, the sword she uses simply seems to be a particularly high quality antique blade, with a red hilt-wrapping. It appears to be both well-used and well-cared for. Anyone with mage or spirit sight, however, will be able to tell fairly quickly that the sword - named 'Sougyo no Kotowari' or 'Truth of Pisces' - is a fairly powerful magical weapon, one that is tied intrinsically to Jyuushiko's own soul, and other shinigami will know it for what it truly is - a 'zanpakuto' or 'soul cutter'. Due to Sougyo no Kotowari being, literally, an extension of her consciousness and soul, Jyuushiko is able to utilize the sword's special powers. The sword has two levels of power release - shikai and bankai. She's capable of both, but does not use the bankai level because it's too draining.

The shikai release command is 'All waves, rise and become my shield, lightning strike and become my blade'. At this, the sword splits into two katana, connected by a heavy red cord threaded with charms. The swords are unusual in that they have an angular, bladed hook jutting out of the blade, allowing them to be used as a defensive weapon as well as an offensive one. The strikes these deal are a little stronger than normal, as they're backed up with raw magical power. The blades also have a special power in this form - the left one can absorb magical attacks, which are then directed through the right blade, back at the opponent. Maintaining shikai form, however, is a bit of an energy drain, and Jyuushiko generally prefers to fight with the sealed form of the sword unless she needs the extra power. The spirits of the sword also occasionally manifest themselves to her, either in dreams or meditative trances, taking the form of a pair of androgynous, white haired children, dressed in old-fashioned blue ceremonial robes, or a pair of sleek, blue-silver fish. These two are very playful, and definitely a bit mysterious. They do not currently have the strength to manifest themselves to others, however.

Jyuushiko is also a fairly powerful mage. She is capable of using a large number of combat spells (which generally exist as as various manipulations of pure energy) and binding spells (which generally keep their target from moving, although some exist as shield spells as well), and can cast them at a very high power without using the long incantations usually required to empower the spells. She also has some knowledge of healing kido and general medical techniques. She can also use a number of movement techniques generally known as flash step - it allows the user to cross short to medium distances instantaneously, and do things they normally couldn't, like standing on air, or jumping up to tall tree branches. As a shinigami, Jyuushiko can also see and talk with ghosts and spirits, and can perform a rite known as 'soul burial', which sends ghosts on to the next world.

INVENTORY; Standard Shinigami uniform + captain's haori, cough drops and some hard candies, more handkerchiefs than anyone should actually need, and Sogyo no Kotowari
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW? I've always handled Sogyo no Kotowari's personality and interactions - since they're usually in the sword unless something unusual happens. Also, there are some bits and pieces in the sample threads that are no longer part of the AU (they were written before the Fake Karakura Town arc was finished and I had made up an ending, but her canonpoint is before that arc).

Hi! While this is a solid app, we're going to need to ask for revisions - the samples aren't nearly long enough.

Additionally, we do have general concerns about deific beings in game - it's by no means a deal breaker, we have a couple now and we've had a couple before - but we'd be curious to hear more detail about how you'd handle that aspect of the character in the game.
