BEASTFOLK: A PLOT INFO

Beastfolk
a Pastoral
May 15 - June 24

The Beastfolk of Home have been scratching out a living in their little corner of a highly dangerous world for over a century now, making the most of the few resources they have and relying on oral tradition and the strange visions of their seers to keep themselves going. But when a strange creature - that only one of the village elders recognises as a mythical human - stumbles into their enclave from beyond the desert and the latest group of foundling Beastfolk to arrive on Gods’ Isle is considerably larger than usual, questions about just what brought them there and how to move forward begin to arise…

Does the status effect take place immediately (ie is it magic?), or does it work like actual medicine and needs to be digested/absorbed into the body first?
The game handles it by having Ignis serve it the night before the next morning it takes effect, but I have no idea if that means that it needs to be digested or if it takes affect immediately. Especially because it is powered by Noct's Power of Kings, AKA, Magic. In the interest of not being OP, it might make more sense for it to take a bit of time after eating to work.

Does the effect continue on after the food has been eaten for a time?
Yes, pretty much all day.

Does it provide anything extra, or just neutralise poisons? (ie if there's a poison that, say, drags the potassium/calcium etc ions out of the cells, does it just stop the poison working, or does it also put the stuff back?)
The description of meals that have this status effect is simply "Prevents Poison". Preventing it from entering the body in the first place is probably what it would do, because the alternative would take way too much energy.

Excellent! Okay:

As long as they've had the food a few hours before (but not say, more than a day? however long it takes to digest), it will make the toxins in the kill-drones non-fatal (although there will still be some temporary unpleasantness), make the memory wipes somewhat less effective (so, more like what Humansona is experiencing in-jaunt), and provide defense against the toxins in the outside atmosphere!

But since the outside atmosphere is also very much lacking in Oxygen, it won't stop asphyxiation. (so people will also need some means of getting some O2 to take with them if they go out)

Ignis's cooking will also make one immune to scorpios, death heads, and red bees, but not a long's bite (because that's because of some particularly nasty bacteria, not a poison). Drinking the north spring and river water is also less unpleasant after eating Ignis's cooking, but probably still not recommended.

how's that sound?

That sounds absolutely perfect and exactly the right balance. I'm assuming Antidotes powered by Noct's abilities would work in the exact same way, except instantaneous?

Thankfully he can't just pull them out without being INCREDIBLY SUSPICIOUS so he can't... really... use them most of the time, so people can let their characters die/be affected by poison if they want without interference pretty easily. Mostly because what the fuck is an energy drink and how did you breaking it over my head heal me?? (I prefer to limit characters so everyone can do what they want and because being OP is boring.)

That sounds reasonable! And yeah, they would be very obvious and confusing to administer (hahaha breaking an energy drink over somebodies head to heal them)

Perfect. And yes, it's great. (Technically, you just have to break it ON the person, but the idea of breaking it over people's head is hilarious.)

It even shows up in quests: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZ8R3NvDPT8
