ESCAPE FROM JUNKWORLD: NATURAL RESOURCES WALKABOUT INFO

Escape from Junkworld: Natural Resources
An outer space exploradora
September 19th–October 29th

It’s been two years since the Junkworld refugees finally reached the isolated smugglers’ moon known only by its alphanumerical designation of S16P3J4W11V18. These last two years, the mixed settlement of smugglers and Junkworlders have been taking advantage of the abundant nearby natural resources--and made a tidy profit at Portabellow Station--and now they’re finally ready to push out further and see what other resources this forest moon has to offer. And when a group of Travelers arrive just as the exploration expedition is about to set out, it’s assumed that they’re newcomers to the smugglers’ moon and welcomed to come along...

Prosthetic Attainment & General Base Question

[personal profile] naturaltwohands 2018-09-13 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Where exactly would one go if they wanted a prosthetic?

2. What sort of locations and supplies will the base have in general? Also, does it have a name? (Maybe I missed that somewhere.) Even if it's a dumb nickname, ha.

1. Yes! An NPC at the base named Lin (a famface played by Megan) has some experience with fitting prosthetics and a few of them at her home/office. She has general medical training as well.

2. It's called Noa Base, but its nickname is... Big Base N. I'm so sorry.

It's got housing: dormitory style for new arrivals, plus private residence for people willing to put the effort into constructing their own. There's some community gardens, a homegrown pub, a very small lending library, and a rudimentary intranet that really only works in range of the base itself. There's tools and hovervehicles and weapons.

The basic way things work is that new arrivals get fed simply and housed in the dormitory for free and the more you help out at the base and in growing the community--or with smuggling/exploring/harvesting resources--the better stuff you get.

1. And that includes things like eye prosethics, yeah? I forgot to ask that spedically since eyes... are a bit more involved whoops.

2. I vote if they have anything like a station or radio, it's called BBN. But all of this is nifty, thank ye!

Thank you for the answers!!

So. For those characters with access to Questing Country, how is this Walkabout handling it?

We're assuming that they're keeping up their QC duties while they sleep, as per usual, but we won't be making any mingles for it. It's all very background handwave stuff.

Cool, makes sense! How does this Walkabout fit in timewise against the Ouroboros/Starquake/Harbinger stuff from last Jaunt? Before? After?

Also, what's the night/day/etc cycle like on the moon? Is it tidally locked to its gas giant parent like is common for big satellites and our moon (aka 'shows the same side to the planet at all times'), or does it rotate on its own? If the former, is the gas giant visible in the sky from the colony area?
(Things that are important when you play an astronomy geek, ugh.)

About half a year after!

I'll get back to you about the orbit stuff after I take a long rest.

Actually, since you're the astronomy geek's player, why don't we just go with what you find most interesting? Because honestly I'm good either way.

kind of a side question to jenn's comment about cybernetic parts. with his oracle powers prompto can easily enough learn how to make them, but I was wondering if he'd be able to maybe get a job where he can learn how to install them? Since that likely takes knowledge he's not going to be able to clean just from poking the mechanics themselves.

Yes! Check with Megan, but if he helps Lin the Medic out, I'm pretty sure she'll teach him in exchange.

* So, can Infiltrator Persona folks access Liminal while it's locked down (either Walkabout or Jaunt, come to think of it?)

* Does Interstitial Movement work OK, or what skills would be required to make it work?

* ... Okay, could an Infiltrator Persona'd Kanji use Interstitial Movement to access it set up Aiya even if he can't hit the rest of Liminal.

Sorry this took so long! I was suffering from a lot of brain fuzz due to health bullshit.

1) Nope! Technically, Infiltrator Personae aren't supposed to be able to get into Liminal Space at all, but they can when it's not in Safe Mode because travelers are weird and tricky. It annoys Emperor Emperor to no end.

2) Oooooh, that's a good question. I suspect that on the Jaunt it would work for a few seconds and then get shut down and his access to what skills remain blocked for a few hours, but the wallaby isn't on active safe mode like the Jaunt, so it might work? Especially since Kanji has both Powers? This is maybe a question for Matt.

3) Also a good question! If it works in non-active safe mode I don't see why not. Worse comes to worst, it'll pop up again once safe mode is turned off since it's a permanent structure.

How friendly are the tardigrades? Would they rather avoid the settlers, or are they willing to work with them? For that matter, how are the settlers taking the news that there's sapient life on their new world?

Also, would the tardigrades have any information they're willing to pass on about any of the search territory?
