Elsewhere University Jaunt Info

Elsewhere University
based on charminglyantiquated's Elsewhere University world
September 19 - October 29

Cauti
Cordati
Auspicati

The University was founded on ordinary, flat ground in the late 1800s in the country of New England. No one knows its original name. The fairy hill came later, around the 1920s. For the unknowing, Elsewhere University--EU or Elsewhere U for short--is a typical school, albeit with a few quirks. Iron washers on strings are given to all the freshmen. Green is noted as bad luck, but it's still the school colors (although the actual shades change frequently). Everyone must go by false names and never, ever say their true names. Ever.

About a third of the campus knows of the Gentry, the Fair Folk, the Good Neighbors, the Lords and Ladies. Call them what you will, call them even by your own culture's name for beings like them, for that is how they may appear to you, but always with reverence. Hailing from a magical world dubbed the Elsewhere, Fae come in all shapes, sizes, and scuttles of life.

A human may be unexpectedly swapped with a Changeling Fae. It happens. The Treaty says no severe harm shall come to or from the Changeling, and that the Taken human may be retrieved at the end of the semester. However, human, Fae, and Other will be caught up in a potentially disastrous Changeling exchange that will lead to an emergency rescue mission in the Elsewhere. Those on both sides of the divide will be tasked with helping one another with wit, bravery, knowledge, diplomacy, and of course, Deals.

If she convinced Anna Monday to lend a shard, she could use sympathetic magic (as I'm understanding it from your app description, I'm canonblind) to locate the rest of the shards with it. Trying to track with, say, a crow feather wouldn't go so well because the flock flies everywhere.

They're enough to cover the missing parts of Anna Monday's body, so probably a sack's worth. The weight is annoying, but not impossible, for one person to carry. To keep moving quickly and increase chances of success, having volunteers split up carrying the shards or just Hammerspacing them might be useful.

The crows would immediately swarm once the shards are stolen, so Portalling into Liminal or remaining under Molly's stealth veil would be necessary to avoid vengeful pecking. (Unless anyone wants to play having to stay inside to avoid the crows lol.) Does her stealth spell last indefinitely?

Not exactly - something representative of a being, such as something that belonged to them, can be used to track a subject. A piece of that something tends to have a stronger connection, but tracking spells are pretty simple, so the stronger connection isn't necessary (the way it would be if, say, one were cursing someone from a distance), just convenient. Given Molly was in Anna Monday's realm for the glass storm, she'd have had no problem picking up some of the not-made-of-Anna shards, and those would indisputably (in a magical sense) belong to Anna while not being of it.

(She's not yet decided whether to give the shards back, so she wouldn't be inclined to ask Anna Monday for a piece of itself.)

Re: the stealth spell, it lasts as long as she can spare some focus to concentrate on it, which in canon is hours. So it's effectively indefinite for the purpose of this venture, though it is limited in range - if anyone goes with her, they'll need to stay close to remain covered, so there's definitely options if someone wants to re-enact The Birds on a personal scale.

Sounds good. Idk if she’d get two pings, one for Anna Monday and one for the shards, but I think Anna Monday will be spending a lot of time in the Elsewhere this week anyway. It’s a good time to do it.

The Fairy Circles in the Forest are usually dangerous because they actively suck people in, but Foxglove, Daneel's overlay, was putting plant fences around Fairy Circles last week for safety. I doubt he covered every single one in the Forest, he may have only done the parts closest to campus, but I think it should be safer. Alternatively, a Fae or someone with Dimensional Senses could sense and help avoid all of them.

It’s worth noting that Quila's overlay, Rowan, can sense when the shards are being placed or moved, since she's a forest Fae who looks out for the interests of the Forest.

If Anna Monday and the shards were on the same plane of reality, probably!

(I mean, technically she's probably getting a lot of individual pings lumped together for the shards themselves, but breaking down the mechanics that finely is probably not useful and would get weird fast.)

Just a heads up, Molly's doing the thing here, with Yukino and Death on the ground, and Casper providing a distraction if necessary to lure off some of the crows.
