Elsewhere University Jaunt Info

Elsewhere University

The University was founded on ordinary, flat ground in the late 1800s in the country of New England. No one knows its original name. The fairy hill came later, around the 1920s. For the unknowing, Elsewhere University--EU or Elsewhere U for short--is a typical school, albeit with a few quirks. Iron washers on strings are given to all the freshmen. Green is noted as bad luck, but it's still the school colors (although the actual shades change frequently). Everyone must go by false names and never, ever say their true names. Ever.

About a third of the campus knows of the Gentry, the Fair Folk, the Good Neighbors, the Lords and Ladies. Call them what you will, call them even by your own culture's name for beings like them, for that is how they may appear to you, but always with reverence. Hailing from a magical world dubbed the Elsewhere, Fae come in all shapes, sizes, and scuttles of life.

A human may be unexpectedly swapped with a Changeling Fae. It happens. The Treaty says no severe harm shall come to or from the Changeling, and that the Taken human may be retrieved at the end of the semester. However, human, Fae, and Other will be caught up in a potentially disastrous Changeling exchange that will lead to an emergency rescue mission in the Elsewhere. Those on both sides of the divide will be tasked with helping one another with wit, bravery, knowledge, diplomacy, and of course, Deals.

He's not planning on walking back out. He's going to stuff them in his hammerspace and then portal back to Liminal. I would ideally like to avoid the crows targeting him, because Tachibana's reaction to something like that would be to shoot them. And I frankly would like to avoid an all out war between him and the crows....

He also has enough canon experience going through the woods to find things that he doesn't need to bring another person. He's been getting "Don't Involve others" pounded into his head this entire jaunt, and with the warning about crows killing people, he's not going to involve another person. That would be putting them at risk. If he needs Dimensional Senses, he can just take that skill, but unless there is a specific person who wants to join in who somehow knows about what he's doing and what he's looking for, he's doing this solo. He has no reason ICly to involve others in this and OoCly, trying to find someone who fits those criteria is going to be a royal pain and basically detail this entire thing.

As a footnote... please don't give "you need to have a party of this many people with these skills" suggestions. Finding people with specific skills who ICly (and OoCly!) want to join an expedition is often a nightmarish situation, and any thread with more than 2 people faces a wealth of speed bumps and often is best handwaved entirely to ensure that the action actually happens...

That works, portaling into Liminal would do the trick.

I simply thought it might be more fun to thread an adventure out, as someone who has poked past jaunt things solo and found it unfulfilling. It was only a suggestion, and the moot PC in question could have had both skills or something similar.

Does he plan to deliver the shards to Anna Monday this mingle? (Ok if you don't know yet, but I thought I'd ask.)
