an uchronic fantasy Jaunt of magic and succession
March 19 - April 28

During the month leading up to the High King of Albion’s ceremonial abdication and retirement, the city of Londinium waits to see if the crown will pass along the maternal line to the High King’s sister’s child as tradition--or if the High King’s own child will raise their banner against the rightful heir as expected. It has been more than a century since there has been a succession dispute of this nature, but there is precedent--and because of this, everyone in Albion will need to think very hard about whose claim they will back.

Matters are complicated, as always, by the genii: supernatural entities who humans summon and form contracts with in order to benefit from their aid and accomplish feats of magic. In Albion, the main workers of contractual magic are the Druids, who are traditionally neutral in these conflicts--but such things are not necessarily true of the magical workers of other lands.

And there is a circle of magic workers from nearby Gaule in town.

Lead by a failed Albionese druid, they seek to contract with a far greater genius than they have before--and should they succeed, they would make valuable allies for either would-be heir. Of course, if they fail, the consequences could be disastrous...

First, would I be able to have Barry as the genius of a graveyard in Dubris, possessing a standard human?

Second, would Bismuth be able to stay as a Gem, and try if she cares to pass herself off as a Genius or such?

Per your request, asking permission for Riddick to be the genus of a local forge who likes to make things in said forge who got summoned by the current smith to look after his infant daughter while he works. And/or to work while the smith plays with his daughter. They'll probably switch it up.

Would green blood be seen as some kind of sign of genius heritage? Not that I'm planning anything with that, I'm just covering all my bases. Also guessing Ryo could be mistaken for a minor genius...

Also, regarding Sento's infiltration being possessed, would, say, botching the summoning of a minor genius of, say, a winding road and getting a stronger-than-anticipated-but-still-minor genius of the snakes that live by the road work? (He's just trying to make his travels easier and then *whoops*, basically.)

We're at about the right time for it, so was/is there an equivalent to the Globe Theater and the boom in drama that London saw around this time in real life? I don't know about a Shakespeare equivalent per se, but in general?

Also, are there any local non-player genii who would be particularly important and likely to help Druids out or should I just make some up based on London's geography?

How similar are these summoning circles to D&D Magic Circles? Would they have to be learned fresh, or would they qualify as a skill equivalency?

Would possession or partial possession have any effect on a druid's abilities, especially if the genius's domain complements theirs? Also, how would animals react to them?

So OOCly, how are we picking winners for tournament things? (Like I feel terribly awkward just up and saying Hajime just won [insert some hand to hand combat thing here] tourney.)

And regarding the tournaments, how much, if any, genius assistance would be allowed? Would genius blood giving you an edge be allowed?
