November SOTG

I. Magic on Jaunts

We have heard and understand player concerns about the low-magic nature of the current jaunt being sprung on people after the voting period was over. We didn’t realise it’d be as big a deal as it turned out to be, but consider the lesson learned; any future jaunt proposals with low or no magic availability will be flagged as such in the vote blurb.

II. Plot Poking Posts

For various RL reasons, the September-October jaunt was far from an ideal rollout for the plot-poking post. We apologise for our lack of timeliness in keeping up with it. We’re trying again with a fresh post for November-December, and hopefully with more of us tuned in and less scattered, we’ll get an accurate picture of how much it helps!

III. December/January App Window

Since the current jaunt is slated to end on Christmas Eve, and the holiday season is a terrible time to ask anyone to either throw an application together or review submitted apps, we’re going to have a three-mingle Liminal break before the January-February jaunt starts. The only fancy event this time will be the now-annual Liminal Ball, which will take up the second mingle and run concurrent with the app window.

IV. New Summary Mod Needed!

With Lampy’s departure, we’re in need of another helper mod to pitch in with getting weekly summaries ready, so Bliss isn’t stuck on the duty by himself. Summary mods comb through jaunt mingles and jaunt-related network posts to collate relevant info; as with other helper-mod positions, they are not part of app or complaint review.

If you’re interested in helping out, let us know in the comments!

V. Plot-Flagging Network Posts

A player recently suggested creating a tag to denote plot-relevant network posts, in order to make it easier for new players to catch up on metaplot they may have missed. We really like this idea, and we need your help bringing it to life.

If your character participated in a plot-relevant network post, and you happen to have a link to it handy (say for instance, on a thread tracker), please pop over to it and add #plot important to the post’s tags. This will help us fill out the tag, and help new players catch up a little more easily.

VI. Happy Skillsgiving!

And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: A selection of new Liminal, Psychic, and Hybrid skills for the holiday season, including a number of player suggestions and a couple alternate prerequisites for the psychic tree.

LIMINAL SKILLS

Dismiss Traveler I: Send a Traveler away from you to or from Liminal Space, or to elsewhere in the Jaunt up to a maximum distance of your Teleport range (with OOC permission). This skill has the same cooldown rate as teleportation skills. Requires Summon Traveler I.

Dismiss Traveler II: Send a Traveler across the Jaunt/Walkabout divide (with OOC permission). As with other bridging skills, this cannot be done to Infiltrators, and there is no guarantee the dismissed Traveler will be an Investigator once they reach their destination. Requires Dismiss Traveler I and Liminal Bridge I.

Liminal Proxy: Temporarily pass control of your created space over to another character, in the event of a dungeon or idle (NOT drop). The proxy owner of the space can then make alterations to it in the creator’s absence. Ownership of the room reverts to the original creator upon their return, or if the proxy owner themselves leaves the game. Requires Liminal Permanence and Liminal Contingency.

Liminal Hanger: Stick something to a specific point in space so it can float without other support. Outside of Liminal Space, this effect dissipates after ten minutes. Requires Object Portal and Liminal Manipulation I.

PSYCHIC SKILLS

Psychic Imago: Once per month, for five minutes per psychic skill, regresses your mind and memories to permit reliving an infiltration. You are NOT really bringing that person’s consciousness from their world, only simulating it. Can be ended with Psychic Contingency or another character’s use of Psychic Healing. Requires Memory Sharing and Psychic Download.

Psychic Discretion: Shows you a visible signal when someone within your line of sight uses a psychic skill that informs you what skill is being used. This skill also shows you the existence of private or filtered conversations, but does not let you access them. Acts as a pre-req for anything Filter Intrusion is a pre-req for. Requires Intrusion Notification.

Psychic Intuition: Draws your attention to the people, places or things a target (infiltrator or investigator) is paying attention to, without actively reading their mind. Acts as a pre-req for anything Investigator Mind Reading is a pre-req for. Requires Psychic Discretion.

Memory Autorestore: Once per jaunt, in response to a predetermined situation or stimulus, an infiltrating character regains their memories and control of themselves. This does not eat into your Memory Restoration cooldown, so you could still separately de-infiltrate another character after using this skill. Requires Memory Restoration and Psychic Contingency.

HYBRID SKILLS

Manifest Dream: Once per month, call forth a dreamscape within Liminal Space, making your subconscious accessible to others. This skill can potentially be used to manipulate another character’s dreamscape, with player permission, or a more generalized dreamscape within Liminal Space. Requires Liminal Thematics and Dream Communication.

Hybrid Masque: Once a day, for ten minutes per Hybrid skill possessed, customize your appearance as frequently as you like. This allows you to mimic any species or individual, but does not permit you to significantly alter your size, or gain the special qualities that species possesses. This is not an infallible disguise; if you have not correctly observed details of a creature’s appearance, your likeness may be inaccurate. Requires Liminal Masque and Psychic Masque.

Portal Archive: If you have opened a portal in one location this Jaunt, you may always open a portal to that location as long as your cooldown permits, even if it is not the last location you portaled from. Requires Stationary Portal Creation and Network Archive Retrieval.

Portal Bookmark: Save one portal location so that any other Traveler with this skill may open a portal to that location, regardless of whether any Travelers are presently at that location. Requires Remote Portal Creation and Network Bookmarking.

We’ve also made a brief clarification to Psychic Entourage: ‘Access the network as you do’ does include ‘use any psychic skills you possess.’ However, if the skill your animal companion chooses to use has a cooldown, they have then burned through your use of that skill within the set time. (For example, if your animal buddy de-infiltrates someone, you cannot then use Memory Restoration yourself for the duration of the jaunt.)

VII. New or Old Business

Have we forgotten to include an update on something discussed in a previous SOTG? Has something cropped up since the last one that you’d like to call our attention to? Let us know here!
