Synodiporia Fourth Wall 101

When is the fourth wall event open?
Synodiporia’s third fourth-wall event runs from August 24th to September 13th (more properly, the 12th going into the 13th, when we’ll post the intro mingle for apped and accepted characters/the upcoming jaunt). During that time, any mingle or psychic network post tagged ‘!4th wall’ may be tagged by absolutely anyone, and all of those threads count as part of game canon.

When are apps open?
Apps will be open September 1st-12th. Feel free to use your fourth-wall threads as samples!

In addition, players apping characters who they think have a strong chance of fitting Fortune’s archetypes and thread on the fourth wall ‘jaunt’ events should point us to their threads, either when they happen or on submitting your app, to get special consideration for a Thing.

What’s the fourth wall event look like?
The Travelers have been skipping between worlds and times for years - but for the first time, the Arcana have made a change to the timeline of the Travelers themselves, and the past is in flux at a few key points in the history of the game. Your character can move between timeframes as if they belong to each & establish that they were really there, at that time. For Travelers who were there the first time: they will remember both versions of the Jaunt as equally true, so no experiences or relationships are being erased, only added to.

There will be two main mingles, each featuring a pair of jaunt events that are in flux and a Liminal Space prompt.

MORE time travel?!
This one’s more for current players - this will be the last bout of timey-wimey stuff for quite some time, if not until Syn’s eventual endgame. We’d rather the game have more continuity than your average comic book franchise, and further tangling with the time stream would compromise that more than we’d care to do.

Can I skip messing with the Jaunts in flux and just stick to the Liminal Space stuff?
Of course! The mingles will be set up so that engaging with these past Jaunts is opt-in, rather than opt-out. That being said, participating in the Jaunts in flux will give you a better idea of how Jaunts themselves go if you plan to app in later.

Hey, it's Matt - not the mod one. Anyway I'm going to be hauling in Banjou Ryuga from Kamen Rider Build. I'm also planning on apping him, but not this app cycle, the next one.

(Spoiler policy and everything... I'm going to be marking spoilers if/when they come up.)

I'm also going to be bringing in Casper LeBlanc Senior, aka Casper's dad, who is a Scion/oWoD OC. People have already spoken for putting him in the Floor repeatedly. Don't worry, everyone will get a chance.

Yooooooooooooooo it's Bliss and I am super excited to be bringing a bunch of nutbars here temporarily!

The big highlights:

Nabiki of Ranma 1/2 fame will be returning with an aim of apping her in afterwards and having her join the first flight of Fortune's own! This will of course be hilariously awkward for Thorne and Berne in particular and the Red Dirt crew in general. She's probably going primarily to Junkworld as some kind of fixer/broker/scoundrel.

Twilight Sparkle from some cartoon about smol horses is a very smart pony who wants to learn all the magic and befriend all the people so hard. I can't not send her as a purple-skinned Duskling to Lightside/Darkside.

Lunaterra is An Char a 'shipself' mecha ace for the more or less villainous faction of Heaven Will Be Mine, a visual novel that I sort of fell in love with. She has never betrayed anyone in her life. I will send her and her... uniquely-equipped to understand Liminal understanding of Culture as a physical force akin to gravity... so yeah she'll be a Junkworld mechajock with a ton of cyborging/Conditioning and body mods.

And finally, I'm going to be bringing one of Sara's canonmates, but I'm not sure which one so I'm going to ask y'all! Would you like to see:
- Her long-suffering wing commander, cool and damaged Seasoned Veteran Anna Lin?
- Her boyfriend and recovering flirty trashfire, Carefree Hedonist Keenan Caine?
- Her biggest fan and most frequent wingmate, the no-nonsense Eager Young Soldier Joshua Preston-Castellano?

Hey! Nea here, current player of Mikasa Ackerman (callyourname) and Usagi Tsukino (starshaper) and they both will be around on this fourth wall too but feel free to poke me if you want them or any of the below anywhere.

Though if any fellow AoT players show up, hi, Mikasa has been here for years but not for as long as Armin and her hair is one hell of a long horsemane though she's still herself from me at least buuuut when you spent so much time in a game, things happen or at least they happen around u, not that she still isn't a gloomy brat too.

I'm definitely bringing Weiss Schnee from RWBY, this girl / account right here, playing her as she's been here before (somewhere around Questing Country/Lightning Age/Children Of The Night/Escape from Junkworlds jaunts veteran -- yes, that's 4 jaunts and I can only go with 3 but I haven't decided which one would have been her first or last) and if all goes well, maybe I'll app her into the game. We'll see. If anyone wants to have had any CR with her from before, that's fine by me, just let me know! She'll be from post-volume 5, she's kind of an ice queen but she has also warmed up a lot though anyone from before doesn't know it since she'd have been here from post-volume 3 before... and if you have any cute animals with you or you're spending time in a cute animal form, be prepared to see a totally different side of her.

I might also bring Rin Tohsaka (greedyvixen) from Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works and Blake Belladonna (bellagatta) from RWBY, not totally sure of those two or any others either though.

Hey everyone! This is Megan, mun of Alcuin nó Delaunay and Takashi 'Shiro' Shirogane 4th Wall-ing a "Voltron: Legendar Defender" OC: Prarra! She is a feline-based humanoid alien who is the last of her people, mostly raised in the environment of the Galra captivity and Arena. She is fierce and feisty and curious and proud, and does not pull her punches. There is a half written Syn app on her journal for her physical appearance and history of you're interested in that.

Those characters who attended Shiro's dungeon will recognize her, though she will not recognize you. She comes from a point before her final match, but not long before.

I am not necessarily intending to app her! I would simply like to voicetest and see how she interacts with others.

Hey, it's Lampy, bringing in two folk to the 4th wall. First off here is Phèdre nó Delaunay de Montrève from the Kushiel's Legacy books. She's a courtesan and an anguisette, which means she feels pain as pleasure. She's also well-read, well-educated, hungry for knowledge, and so prone to doing recklessly dangerous things that she ought to pick herself up a YOLO t-shirt from somewhere in this event while she has the chance....

I'll also be bringing in Sayoko Fukazawa from Kamen Rider Blade (peaceintheworld), a doctor and non-combatant... and also Tachibana's dead fiancee. She'll at least be a lot less dead, here? Versions of her have generally existed in Tachibana's orbit during previous jaunts, so it's not out of the question for people to vaguely recognize her if their CR leans that way.

Blue here, bringing in...Blue Diamond from Steven Universe for the Fourth Wall because apparently characters who happen to share my handle are what's calling me right now. She's a giant, 40-50 foot tall blue woman and one of the rulers of a dictatorship of alien space gems, who has also been grieving the death of one of her fellow Diamonds for a millennia.

I think she's mostly going to be staying in liminal space for this, but we'll see how things go! If anyone wants to plot anything with her, let me know.

Hi this is Bookie and this is the android sent by Cyberlife Connor from Detroit: Become Human, which is a truly terribly written game where Connor was mostly salvaged because his voice actor did not give a fuck. Connor is a special model of android designed to help with police cases, specifically any cases where androids have gone 'deviant', aka developed ~feelings~.

Also he has an LED light in his forehead, a glowing armband, and a jacket that says 'ANDROID' across the back. In case anyone has any questions about what he is.

The first one of them, this guy, Keiichiro Asaka, is a super devoted policeman who is entirely too uptight and serious and hellbent on doing his duty and can't stop won't stop doing his duty and also turns into a Power Ranger Super Sentai cop. He will assume all this is just some terrible Gangler plot and everyone needs rescue, probably.

I'm also bringing in Kiriya Kujo from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid...who coincidentally just happens to be one of the older veteran Travelers who's been kicking around in backstory land. He is a coroner who turns into a motorcycle. Please do not make me try to top that statement.

This is Heather, Lotor's player, and because I'm a nerd I'm going to bring in this beautiful queen here if it's permissible, of course, Kaltenecker: the True Heart of Voltron and Queen of her Area. Go sit down, Allura, she runs this. (Although she does like you!)

While not able to communicate in human speech she is quite intelligent, having been educated by her mother, a Bovine Queen on Earth, and her journey into space has only increased her curiosity and her patience. She will be quite happy to see any of the Paladins and will likely follow closely behind any of them she happens to find, nudging at pockets for the Fruit and Vegetable of Crunchiness. She knows you have some.

She's pretty friendly and easygoing, but takes no BS, and if you try to talk badly about any of her Paladins she will end you. Just saying.

I may also throw my old man Kyouraku Shunsui from Bleach in for a bit, simply because I miss him.

Hey, it's PG, and for the fourth wall event, I'll be bringing in Acxa from Voltron: Legendary Defender, because apparently we don't have enough purple space people around, and Thor MCU flavour because apparently I don't play enough space royalty already. The former is not going to stay past the event, the latter may.

Depending on time and overwhelming the mingles get, I may also dust off and/or test out another character or two; possible candidates are Nathyrra from the Hordes of the Underdark expansion for Neverwinter Nights, Garrus Vakarian from Mass Effect, and Inara Serra from Firefly/Serenity. From the description of the game, it sounded like a good fit for my absolute disaster child (though she might disagree) so I'm in the process of creating a journal for Chloe Frazer, from the Uncharted series. Think Indiana Jones, but without even the vague discipline imparted by academia.

Hey y'all, it's Maniette! I play Gil Ryanson, local Changeling, and Barry Bluejeans, local necromantic lich science boy, and I somewhat spontaneously at 11.45pm decided to throw Bismuth (Steven Universe) at the 4th wall! Though I don't think I'll be apping her, ahah. She's a pre-Moebius veteran who dungeoned towards the end of Moebius itself, during the jaunt, due to her gem getting shattered.

Bismuth is a blacksmith, can make pretty much any weapon, and worked for the Diamonds originally, before being won over by Rose Quartz and began making weapons specifically for the Rebellion. I'm playing her from "Legs from Here to Homeworld", so there may be some spoilers for those who aren't up to date!
