RED DIRT - JAUNT INFO

RED DIRT
Space, cowboys, and metaplot
July 7 - August 16

Mars, 2148. The greedy corporate barons that run Mars ration technology as a way to keep their industrial workers and colonists in line. The black-market smuggling this leads to has created a thriving underworld, and one of the premier pieces of contraband is… well, cattle, due to their ability to feed on the tough, inhospitable grasses that hold down the Martian topsoil, and, er… create new, better topsoil of their own.

The citizens of Ridge Rock, tired of being ground down under the heel of the corporate overlords, have decided to take matters into their own hands, with a little help from the local ne’er-do-wells. Every Founders’ Day, Erebus Corp shows off its wealth by importing a fresh herd of cattle from Earth, and this year is no exception - so why not steal as many of those cows as they can and bring them home, tipping the balance of power and becoming a little more self-sufficient? Of course, managing a herd of cattle in the low-gravity deserts is easier said than done, and before they can declare it a success they have to get those cattle home.

Enter the Travelers - but not, as quickly becomes apparent, to usual circumstances. Who are these handful of mostly unfamiliar faces claiming to be Travelers? Why are a couple of the very oldest guard positive that they’ve been here before, and not merely in the general sense? What brought them back, and what must they do before they leave? Have the stakes on any jaunt ever been higher?

So... bookstores or libraries or information storehouses; any exist anywhere? (Any chance that Tachibana could find a book to the effect of the Hobbyist's Guide to Building Spaceships or really anything that has blueprints of schematics for space-fairing vehicles.)

Bookstores and libraries do exist, mostly in David Robert Jones City.

Unfortunately, Tachibana's out of luck with spaceship blueprints. Erebus keeps a tight, tight lid on its space transport technology, and colonists arrive in large groups rather than individual ships; those aren't really economically viable.

Anything he could find more on the theoretical side that he could find or is it all trade secrets? Is there maybe a Maker Movement anywhere that would be putting out anything...

He wants to help get Shiro and Matt into space for their honeymoon, so...a decent amount.

...this is gonna get him into trouble with her merchants blood huh :D

What little theoretical information there is isn't anything the colonists have the means to work with. There's a lot of 'trade secrets' going on, and just plain not much in the way of personal spacecraft at any level.

This is more the "get information now, build space shuttle in Liminal later" quest rather than building something during the jaunt. (no way he's gonna have the time to make it during the jaunt, that's a multiple-month long project, if not a year, even with Liminal) So mostly just asking if he can get his hands on that, rather than if he could get a space ship

Large transport shuttles are trade secrets. Personal spacecraft are pretty much nonexistent. Tachibana is highly unlikely to find enough scraps of theoretical information to begin to do anything.
