In the Network, more than a dozen Systems flourish - independent nations connected by high-speed data lines, overseen by Programs - humanoid beings made of pure information, each with its own Purpose and Priority in the System.

Only twice in the history of the Network has a System fully fallen to viral corruption - first the ZODIAC, and then the Grid. Five cycles ago, an expedition from other Systems managed to restore the Grid under very strange circumstances - but the rest of the Network, unconvinced that the recovered Programs weren’t concealing viral influence behind their unnatural behavior and outlandish stories, has kept the Grid under strict isolation.

Until now. The Colossus, a System admired for its rugged survivalism and powerful military, is willing to take a risk on the Grid. The Colossus is sending its own team of soldiers and experts to attempt to recover the lost ZODIAC System. Their expedition travels on a large, encapsulated vessel called the Rejuvenator, specifically meant to be difficult to control, to have new Data and Programs uploaded to it remotely - but to be totally unable to send any data back without Colossus approval. If the mission fails, the Rejuvenator will never be allowed to return.

But all the fresh-trained Programs from the Colossus are untested. To give them the best chance at success, the Rejuvenator was sent first to the Grid, to take on a volunteer crew. If the ZODIAC Initial Probe fails, the Grid will remain under lockdown. But if it succeeds, and the Colossus Programs send back a positive report, the Network will consider opening their Ports to the Grid again, and letting its Programs rejoin civilization...

Not necessarily! While recalled they may be Interfaced by their Program, but it's more like putting a lightcycle back into a baton or flicking an off switch.

Not precisely - they would have creatures which were only every observed in the far past, or from a distance, whom they do not have clear records of, and they might tell speculative stories about such creatures, but they would know all such creatures to have been real, simply poorly documented.

Would THORN-E and BAR-3 be able to mine Gil's Contracts and use them? Or edit the data for them enough that they could create equivalent Functions?

(Also- Since Contracts require glamour to be activated, could this be navigated around through creative editing, or using raw energy/their own energy to activate a Contract-Function instead?)

What does the ID Disc of someone using Infiltrator Persona look like? Does it solely reflect the Infiltrator's identity, or is there a temporary partition for the Traveler?

Would it be possible for an enterprising program to hack the partition and connect (not merge) the two sides?

Would anything about the code on Raidou's side of the partition stick out at all? Do Favor skills involve contact with an outside server? Are the Arcana global variables?

(I assume IOUHEI couldn't actually use any of the Favor skills, but they probably would draw his attention.)

Also, while I'm thinking of it: IOUHEI will also be looking for a way to toggle control of their shared body between himself and Raidou. Is that something that's even possible? (He might also try to reverse-engineer some of Raidou's skills, or at least figure out how to access them, but he reasons that Raidou would be much better at using them should it prove necessary.)

If a Trojan-infected traveler is killed and is brought back, would they still be infected?

An infiltrator who revived as an Investigator would be uninfected. An investigator who revived as an investigator WOULD be infected.

Everything about it would seem strange in some way - people have all sorts of complexities Programs do not, on a genetic level, a cellular level, and Travelers on a memory level... it would be hard to isolate any one area as stranger than others.

Favor skills do not involve contact with an outside server but they were installed by an exterior connection.

Would Liminal and Psychic skills (or Jaunt skills, for that matter) have been installed the same way, or are there differences?

They would not! They were developed internally!

Structurally, yes, though the details vary by Arcana.

Okay. I wasn't sure if he'd be able to tell Raidou has Interdisciplinary Mark/Favor skills from multiple Arcana or not (not that he'd have context for what they were either way, even if there are multiple identifiers).
