In the Network, more than a dozen Systems flourish - independent nations connected by high-speed data lines, overseen by Programs - humanoid beings made of pure information, each with its own Purpose and Priority in the System.

Only twice in the history of the Network has a System fully fallen to viral corruption - first the ZODIAC, and then the Grid. Five cycles ago, an expedition from other Systems managed to restore the Grid under very strange circumstances - but the rest of the Network, unconvinced that the recovered Programs weren’t concealing viral influence behind their unnatural behavior and outlandish stories, has kept the Grid under strict isolation.

Until now. The Colossus, a System admired for its rugged survivalism and powerful military, is willing to take a risk on the Grid. The Colossus is sending its own team of soldiers and experts to attempt to recover the lost ZODIAC System. Their expedition travels on a large, encapsulated vessel called the Rejuvenator, specifically meant to be difficult to control, to have new Data and Programs uploaded to it remotely - but to be totally unable to send any data back without Colossus approval. If the mission fails, the Rejuvenator will never be allowed to return.

But all the fresh-trained Programs from the Colossus are untested. To give them the best chance at success, the Rejuvenator was sent first to the Grid, to take on a volunteer crew. If the ZODIAC Initial Probe fails, the Grid will remain under lockdown. But if it succeeds, and the Colossus Programs send back a positive report, the Network will consider opening their Ports to the Grid again, and letting its Programs rejoin civilization...

Can demons Functions (or Bits, for that matter) be corrupted by the greys at all?

OKAY SO Gil is Grey-blur form is going to be trying to Dataspike MATH-U, with the intent of trying to make him into a Grey. MATH-U is going to end up using System Crash as a kind of reflexive defence.

So...what happen as a result of that? Would System Crash still work when it's a Dataspike and not an Interface?

It would! And it would interrupt the Interface - whether before or after infection is your call, depending on what you want to play!

Also, what happens to Gil in this scenario? Since exact results were unsure earlier. Would he just 'crash' for as long as MATH-U does, or suffer any more serious effects / glitches / whatever?

Gil is investigating for this Jaunt as well, would the System Crash disrupt the Trojan form enough to make Gil aware of what's happening?

He would crash for as long as MATH-U did, and would reboot in non-Trojan mode (as he would when powering up after a recharge).

Alright - in that case, THORN-E is going to take advantage of MATH-U having crashed Gil to run some tests on him before snapping him out of the crash. What would she find from that?

would be possible for prompto to maybe design/rig some sort of temp battery situation to help MATH-U temporarily? or is it more of a food thing? I'm sort of confused how it all works with programs. he's trying to look at it as a disabled person needing help at first, to alleviate at least some issues while work on a better solution is done.

Due to sections of the System which are underwater, this isn't actually possible, but it would take around 18 millicycles, or 144 hours (6 days).

That his disc is partitioned, and the 'Gil' portion of it unaltered. The rest has very little data - basic operating instructions for efficient continuous use of power, optimizing systems, and code for drawing power directly from structures, functions, and utilities.
