Would you want their families to have interacted outside of school as well? I’m still trying to figure out the best way to get as many mixed races into his background as he needs while keeping him aristocratic, but his mum’s side will carry the Indian background and have come in during the Victorian era. I don’t know if you want Delaunay to be French living in the uk or if you want his family to have emigrated, but there’s definetly some scope for playing off the relative outsider thing!

He's French living in the UK. He's actually married to a woman in this AU (which is probably how he's not disinherited) and she's British, so yeah. He's been here for probably a decade, maybe more?
Also, I am totes good with their families having interacted before. Maybe his parents and Leo's grandparents knew each other or something?
Awesome! I'm so excited for this and I'm so sorry for what Delaunay will have to put up with.
Also for family that sounds good! Leo's parents are pretty old, so it could also be them (they're around mid-late fifties, he was a late child). I'm probably going to go with his mum having been a singer, and his dad being an author, but I'm still throwing various ideas around for them.
ETA: Also Leo's going to be Majesty's Champion, so a) I'm going to be coming up with a solid plan for his parents at work tomorrow and b) house pride?
I have no idea what Delaunay's parents are/were in this universe. I just know they weren't a Comte and Comtesse because France is a republic now. But since, like, Delaunay's in his early forties, it's probably his parents being friends with Leo's grandparents, even though Leo's parents are Old.
Family name is Montreve for the Jaunt, by the way. (Delaunay's his mother's maiden name, both here and in canon.) So he's Professor Montreve!
Okay, so the update, is that Leo's parents are on the school board, so that is also a very reasonable link. But also rich families doing rich family things maybe they are neighbours in their holiday homes in the south of France or something idk.
