September Activity Check

Welcome to the Activity Check for Synodiporia! Standard Activity consists of the following:
A total of thirty comments in two or more comment threads.
All of your comments must have been made in the current AC period, but the thread itself could have been started at any time in the last sixty days. At least one thread submitted for activity needs to have been started within the current activity period.

Backtagging is fine with us (and we most definitely encourage it!), but we do want you to be involved in current events! Using more than one thread within the same post is acceptable, but if you have more than thirty comments in one single thread, you still need a separate thread. If you made the initial post, it may count as one comment towards the total thread length.

To gain a skill, you must turn in
A total of forty-five comments in three or more comment threads.
● Characters on their first jaunt may claim one skill for meeting standard AC per month of their first jaunt (no more than two skills total).
For jaunt skills, at least one of these should mention the character’s interest in or practice of the skill in question (this is not required for Liminal, Psychic Network, or Combo skills). Psychic Network Skills are listed here, Liminal Skills are listed here, and Combo Skills are listed here.

To gain two skills, you must turn in
A total of sixty comments in three or more comment threads.
And one of the following prerequisites must be met:
● The character is in a plot-important role for the current Jaunt.
● At least one skill is a Favor skill, i.e., a skill given to a character by one of the Arcana.
● At least one skill is a character-taught skill of any type.
As above, the thread proof should mention the character’s interest in or practice of the skill in question (though this is not required for Liminal, Psychic Network, or Combo skills). Psychic Network Skills are listed here, Liminal Skills are listed here, and Combo Skills are listed here. For more information on Skill AC, see here.

If you made standard activity, please comment using the correct character journal under the top-level thread labeled SEPTEMBER ● Standard AC. If you made single or double skill activity, comment using the correct character journal under the top-level thread labeled SEPTEMBER ● Skill AC. If you’re claiming a skill for your new character hitting standard activity, comment using the correct character journal under the top-level thread labeled SEPTEMBER ● First Jaunt Skills. The AC and Skill mods will do all the rest!

Please note that AC is due no later than SEPTEMBER 30TH at 11:59 PM Central US Time/OCTOBER 1ST at 4:59 AM GMT.

Characters accepted when we close the app box tomorrow night will not be expected to submit AC, but are welcome to do so if they wish.

If you have not made AC, report under the the Standard AC thread with the word ❝ hiatus ❞. If you are reporting hiatus for the second month running, contact the mods to avoid being idled into a dungeon dimension. For more information regarding the activity policies here at Synodiporia, please read through the Activity Policies page.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to leave them in the appropriate thread located here and we'll get back to you ASAP.

Oh, okay! Sorry about that, I misunderstood the skill then. Everything in the created room is 'unwanted', especially the smoke, so I thought that covered it! I didn't realize it was only for like, the primary section of liminal space itself and not created rooms.

Would Barrier be better to take in this case? That thread wasn't done for the sake of the skill, but rather we needed to 'break it up' and the skill was chosen for that purpose. In other words, I'm not actually set on Bubble - it just seemed to be the most convenient skill to take at that point. If that makes sense?

(Also re: teaching, I thought it just needed to be mentioned as being interested in or being used if you didn't have a specific "these two sat down and nutted it out" thread?

If it's not the case, then I can nix Archive Retrieval and probably take Cantrips instead - if mentions of reading up on Colour Magic are allowed for Cantrips? Or since he's a wizard already and doesn't specifically need Cantrips, can probably just take Colour Magic as the one with proof and then take either... Bubble or Barrier, whichever is the actually appropriate one for use in that other thread's context.)

Instead of editing for the millionth time - just saw Barrier has pre-reqs he doesn't have, so if need be if usage isn't actually proof enough then I'll swap Archive Retrieval for Colour Magic (last month's thread is here) and take Bubble as the free.

In this case though, is it okay to choose the Colour and Spells at a later point in time?

Okay, so. It looks like I wasn't entirely correct about the limitations of liminal bubble. It would still function, albeit to a much lesser extent, within created rooms. But if the maker of the room wants the intrusions, they could reassert them. And it wouldn't be able to get rid of the source of the problem, only mute the disruption. That said, for the future, keep in mind it is still not a physical barrier.

The important thing in a teaching thread is the interaction with another person as it relates to a skill. So it can be taught, or two people can figure out a skill together, and talking about/ mentioning the intention to do either of these things can count as a taught skill. Or, for example, you can start a thread right after the teaching finished, as long as you reference that it happened in your thread. But there still has to be some aspect of teaching or figuring out the skill with another person, even if it's not explicitly done on screen. Simply showing skill being used is sufficient for a normal skill proof, but not a taught skill proof.

Does that make sense?

If archive retrieval and liminal bubble are what you want, I can grant you a technical pass and you can take those skills. Basically everyone gets one time where they don't quite meet the requirements for what they're going for that we let slide.

Ah, okay! I'll stick with the Bubble and Retrieval then, and thank for you clearing up for me how the Bubble and teaching threads work!

Of course!

And feel free to let me know anytime in the future if you aren't sure how something works, I'm glad to answer questions/ explain things.
