Hijikata's done a few delightful things (torture!!) but what he's willing to do to someone who's actually an enemy and someone who's just unlucky enough to be in the way is pretty different (he could've saved the Shinsengumi a lot of trouble had he just killed Chizuru for what she witnessed instead of taking her home like a stray cat), so if they've had situations where innocents might've gotten hurt or screwed over as a result of Traveler actions, that's probably where they've clashed. He's capable of crossing even those lines, but that's something he'll look for a way around.

(Although the Spark doesn't, actually, bother him as much as that paragraph implies it should, really. He was probably not thrilled with it but society itself was complicit, I guess is the best way to put it? :|a )
