CHARACTER RECLAIMS
From now until endgame, Synodiporia is closed to new applications. However, players who dropped or idled characters but who do not have a behavioral strike against them may reclaim characters at any time. Dungeons and app windows are no longer necessary. Simply comment below with "I'd like to bring [character (username)] back!" And we'll take it from there. Players already at 3 characters who wish to bring back a 4th or 5th may do so so long as they're current on AC. Players wishing to bring in characters above 5 may request special mod permission. If you are uncertain if you qualify to reclaim, please email us at synodiporians@gmail.com and ask! |
ACCEPTED!
A new mingle for character introductions is up here. Plotting for the next Jaunt is here. Welcome to the game!
As far as his powers go, what level of D & D magic would these powers approximate? What are the details on black/shadow magic? We definitely need more information on these before deciding what sort of power cap, if any, to put in place. Likewise, if ever used in-game, Erian's powers would need to be listed and explicitly approved beforehand.

Given his rank during the first story arc as Akron's top lieutenant, I'd put him pretty high up as to a level equivalent. For the human magic only, I'd put him either at 20 or 21, depending on what edition you want to look at. He's shown to be capable of, on a moment's notice, bringing a flock of gargoyles to life and commanding them.
There is some overlap between demon magic and necromancy, but whereas the later is a learned skill, the former is part of being a demon. Being only half-demon, his demon magic is weaker than a full demon's magic would be. There are also not skills he's likely to use, since he's trying to distance himself from his demon nature. Most of it revolves around causing lots of pain and suffering on someone.
Aura - Demons can produce a definite aura, and it seems to be a controlled thing. It can be used in a similar fashion to Infusion, spreading and tainting those it comes into contact with, but without the prerequisite suffering of mortals. It also doesn't seem to last so long once stopped. It can also be used to manipulate emotions. While it doesn't allow for control over the subject in question, it does allow the demon to guide the victim into doing what they want.
Demonic Infusion - While we don't see Dargor doing this, we know his father is perfectly capable of it. The catacombs where the Black Book is kept is tainted by demon power, to the point that one of Dargor's companions is able to feel the suffering that was caused to create the unholy lair. On this, something that has been infused with demonic power can be used by a demon (or angel) powerful enough to handle the item. The reverse of this, something with angelic power, can also be used by a powerful enough demon, however it will twist and taint the power of the item.
Soul Mutilation - demons are able to damage the very soul of their victims. It requires putting the victim through great amounts of physical pain. If put through enough physical and spiritual torment, the victim will be unable to rest after death or will be bound to some level of Hell.
Summoning - Despite Dargor's preferred summon/creation being gargoyles, demons are capable of calling lesser demons from Hell. Given the right power levels or number of demons, there doesn't seem to be an actual upper limit. For Dargor himself, it would be more beneficial to stick with his gargoyles. Demons have their own will; constructed gargoyles do not.
Vision Sending - Demons can send visions in dreams and use that to communicate with or terrorize the dreamer. It's not expanded upon if there is a ritual with this or if it's more of a quickly cast spell, as the only time we see this is when Dargor receives one from his father. Given that the demons don't fall right on Dargor and his companions after, it clearly can't be used for tracking.
As I seriously don't see this being used, given the prerequisites for it, I will - to mangle a saying - burn that bridge when I come to it, if that's alright by you.

For the demon magic, no demon-summoning or vision-sending until we've had a chance to discuss more.
And waiting on the Erian stuff is no problem.
