CHARACTER RECLAIMS

From now until endgame, Synodiporia is closed to new applications.

However, players who dropped or idled characters but who do not have a behavioral strike against them may reclaim characters at any time. Dungeons and app windows are no longer necessary. Simply comment below with "I'd like to bring [character (username)] back!" And we'll take it from there.

Players already at 3 characters who wish to bring back a 4th or 5th may do so so long as they're current on AC. Players wishing to bring in characters above 5 may request special mod permission.

If you are uncertain if you qualify to reclaim, please email us at synodiporians@gmail.com and ask!

C H A R A C T E R;
NAME: Braig alias Xigbar
CANON: Kingdom Hearts
POINT IN CANON: Post-KH3D
AGE: ~45
APPEARANCE: Here
CANON HISTORY: Xigbar had a previous life and identity as Braig, which he has partly reassumed (see links). Braig's history | Xigbar's history
CANON PERSONALITY: Braig is a man who cultivates inscrutability. Perpetually detached, perpetually amused, he gives the effect of coasting through life on a tide of private jokes. Which is, in fact, the case. Often the jokes are at other people's expense. Since his alliance with Xehanort began before any of his fellow apprentices had ever heard the name, he knows more of Xehanort's true goals and the past connections between people than anyone, and making references he knows will be missed is a hobby of his, as is watching people walk into traps only he can see. Knowing the story of Xion's origins, and both her and Roxas's connection to Ven, he deliberately brings up similarities between them without explaining what, or who, he means.

He is not a nice man.

Underneath, however, he's tapdancing on quicksand. Ever since his first encounter with Xehanort, as a member of the castle guard recruited to help the old man in his schemes, Braig has been making Faustian bargain after bargain and never getting the better end of it. Manipulating Terra into releasing the darkness in his heart cost him his eye, helping an amnesiac Xehanort betray the other apprentices cost him his heart, and letting Xehanort into his heart cost him some portion of his sense of self. His initial anger at being used quickly turned into a drive to prove himself useful lest Xehanort get rid of him (something he knows he has no power to prevent), and since then he's never felt able to escape the relationship. His apparently unbreakable bond of loyalty, therefore, is forged of fear and regret that, now that he is “half-Xehanort”, he can't admit even to himself.

Braig is callous and cunning, willing to betray even his closest friends if that's what it takes. He helped Xehanort convince the other apprentices to turn on their mentor, and then turned on said apprentices in turn. While he may care on some level about what he's done, he doesn't allow it to affect his actions.

*A note on “half-Xehanort”: Braig's heart is partially subsumed by that of Xehanort. Practically, this makes no serious difference in his behavior unless Weird Heart Bullshit is invoked, which is not planned. The details are canonically unclear at this point.
POINT OF DEPARTURE: N/A
ABILITIES: Braig fights with two “arrowguns” he can summon at will, which appear to be repeating crossbows that fire hard-light arrows. They never run out of ammunition, though he does need to pause and reload them. He can combine the two together to fire a particularly powerful beam which ricochets around an area for some time. Otherwise, he has somewhat ill-defined power of “space”, which has manifested in the ability to jump extremely high or ignore gravity entirely, to stand on walls or ceilings (or thin air), and short-range teleportation. He also has the ability to open portals to other worlds, though that I expect to get rid of for the game.
INVENTORY; Organization XIII coat and clothes, his arrowguns.
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW? Because he's awful, he's going to let people assume he's still Xigbar.

S A M P L E S;
ACTIONSPAM SAMPLE: Well, isn't that cute. [He looks down at his interlocutor condescendingly, standing on the wall if necessary to achieve the right height.] Let me guess, someone got ahold of a summoning sigil and thinks it makes them big being on campus? Man, you have got a lot to learn, inner strength, self-actualization, yadda yadda. If you live that long. See, I'm betting you don't know what you're doing, or you wouldn't have grabbed me. 'Cause I'm not like that blue guy, all yes-master, no-master, never-had-a-friend-like-me-master.

[His guns fall into his hands with a snick.] I'm the other kind of summon. But hey, accidents happen, I know how it is! [He grins.] So whaddaya say, undo whatever you're doing to keep me here and I won't take my chances that it disappears along with your corpse?

PROSE SAMPLE:

There were humans in this world, but his recon missions had already made it clear that they were afterthoughts, the way animals were in other worlds. It was the animals – to be precise, the way he should be in his report but wasn't going to bother, the Animals – who mattered to the world, who were closer to the center.

Xigbar was still human – no point wasting the magic it would take to fight the world on that – or as human as he ever was, anyway. So, fifty-fifty on a good day. But he sure wasn't an Animal.

The Heartless came in a hurry at his call. No point being cautious and going to all that work for setup the way Xaldin and the kid liked to, not for low-hanging fruit like this. He considered being offended at having such an easy one, but on balance, who cared? So Saïx the secretary wanted to score a point; so what? He'd get his, sooner or later.

Xigbar cracked his knuckled under his gloves. Man, he was getting old. The snot-nosed kids were turning into snot-nosed adults who thought they were winning 'cause they did more work. What did they teach them at their schools? The point wasn't to fill out a resume anymore. The point was to win.

It was like berserker-boy to go through every obstacle in sequence, come to that. He rolled his eye. Dumb kids these days, all brawn and no brain. Maybe it was working out for Saïx, but Xigbar was a sniper. He didn't rush; he waited, and calculated, and took one good shot.

Speaking of... Down below, the Animals were fleeing in terror from the wave of Heartless. This world was as good as dead. It just needed one little push... Xigbar sighted carefully and pulled the trigger.

He chuckled over the scream of the dying doe. “Mmm, venison.” His work here was done.
