CHARACTER RECLAIMS
From now until endgame, Synodiporia is closed to new applications. However, players who dropped or idled characters but who do not have a behavioral strike against them may reclaim characters at any time. Dungeons and app windows are no longer necessary. Simply comment below with "I'd like to bring [character (username)] back!" And we'll take it from there. Players already at 3 characters who wish to bring back a 4th or 5th may do so so long as they're current on AC. Players wishing to bring in characters above 5 may request special mod permission. If you are uncertain if you qualify to reclaim, please email us at synodiporians@gmail.com and ask! |
Re: ACCEPTED!
Re: ACCEPTED!
How long does it take for a soul to go completely crazy?
What can a disembodied soul do of its own volition?
How can a disembodied soul be communicated with/detected?
Does an absorbed soul carry any remnant of personality or memory?
How do you see Winnie employing her abilities in-game?
How essential is maintaining a non-capped version of this skill to your desire to play Winnie?

2. After 24 hours the soul will start to wither, causing the Extractor to become nauseous and the soul to become twitchy. (The Extractor is able to communicate with the soul its hosting, though trained Extractors (aka Not Winnie) are able to block communication and limit these sorts of feelings). After 48 hours the pain will increase and the Extractor will grow weaker and more ill, and begin to feel the pain of the dying soul. After 60 hours the soul will be completely insane and at that point putting it back in its original body will probably be useless, unless the person has a strong enough will to overcome that level of trauma endured by the soul. After 72 hours the soul will expire completely.
To note: If the soul belonged to someone particularly strong-willed and is released from the Extractor before the 60th hour mark, the soul may become a ghost instead (this would be up to mod/player discretion if it ever came to that point). After the 60th hour mark the soul could still become a ghost, but the ghost would be prettying fucked up and after 72 hours it'd be impossible. If the soul is still INSIDE the Extractor, there's no turning into a ghost, regardless of strength of will.
3. Unless hosted by an Extractor (to whom the soul may communicate if the Extractor isn't blocking them out), not much. The stronger-willed a person/a person's soul is, the more they're capable of doing, from simply floating around--(though it's difficult:
Say, for example a soul is in the middle of a room and wants to get to a chair. They could move, but it would be slow an difficult, much like moving through molasses. The more they practice and do, the easier it would become, but it would still be a slow process unless they became a fully formed ghost)-- to making objects shake.
4. A soul is different from a ghost. A soul can become a ghost once either the original body is unrecoverable, destroyed/broken beyond use, etc. If the body becomes such a way before the 72 hours are up, the soul will either keep marching on towards its death, or become a ghost. A ghost cannot become a soul again. Those with a strong sixth sense (or any ability in-game that would make one capable of communicating with spirits) would still be able to detect a soul unattached to an Extractor and be able to communicate, but a disembodied soul (NOT a ghost) would have trouble with it, like trying to speak on the phone with a bad reception.
The extracting abilities can be used on a ghost to exorcise them, or pull a possessing spirit out of someone's body, since the make-up of ghosts and souls are relatively the same. The Extractor would touch a ghost's mouth and pull their 'essence' out, essentially destroying them, and when pulling it out a possessed person, the Extractor would simply figure out which was the original soul and which was the invading ghost, and pull the ghost out unharmed.
5. This varies from person to person. Person A absorbing Soul B might find that similar traits they have in common with the soul are heightened (for example, a person quick to anger absorbing the soul of someone who was also quick to anger may find them raging more easily than before), or may find themselves suddenly having a taste for a food they didn't like as much before. Sometimes these traits fade out as time passes and the original soul adjusts and "digests" the newer soul coming in, sometimes they linger; as I said, it varies (and would be up to player discretion should it happen in-game) but there have been no recordings of complete personality changes.
Once the soul is absorbed however, that soul ceases being itself and merges with the other person's soul. If an Extractor were to try and remove the soul, they wouldn't be able to distinguish between the original soul and the newly placed one.
(It could be possible to remove the new soul if caught extremely early, within minutes of the new soul going into the person's body. However, this hasn't been tested and if it WAS done, it wouldn't be without considerable damage to both souls).
6. I'M GLAD YOU ASKED. Winnie is secretive about her power. While she's aware it's incredibly unlikely that word would get back to her world and thus put her father and Agnes in danger, she's aware of how awful her world would possibly sound to outsiders. Besides, having no soul tends to creep people out,and pulling souls out of other people even more so. So if she did demonstrate her power, it would be as secretly as possible and only as a sort of last resort. She's not the kind of person to flaunt it or use it as a means of scaring people into listening to her or anything like that.
That said, if and when she grew more comfortable about using it openly, (or at the very least to a few close friends she'd consider trustworthy enough to know about it), she'd be interested in using it in order to help others out. For example, if a death needed to be faked, she could easily take the soul and wait a while for the body to be removed, follow it out, and return the soul before the time limit is up and do whatever needed to be done from there.
Winnie would be EXTREMELY reluctant to use it to actually kill someone, since the breakdown of the soul while its inside her makes her incredibly ill. As she isn't a trained Extractor, it'll make it even worse for her, and after that 60th hour mark she'd be bedridden, and by 72 hours she'd be incredibly ill and miserable. Releasing the soul would be hard too, because she would still be feel the side-effects (though lesser since it's not inside her), and she'd feel bad for the dying soul. She could be tricked into keeping the soul for that length of time since she's fairly trusting of just about everyone, so it'd be fun to play with (she also needs to touch her own mouth to extract the soul from herself, so if she's incapable of touching her mouth it'd be easy to force her to keep the soul in her).
7. It's not, really. The only thing that would make me iffy about playing her would be if she was forced to indefinitely gain a soul (temporarily would be fine and interesting to play with how it'd change her), but it's such a big part of her that I'd be reluctant to part with that bit. I've had her in games for months before where she never once used or demonstrated her power, so nerfing the soul-eating part of it completely would be fine if need be!
