allison argent, teen wolf
We first meet Allison Argent on her first day at her new school in Beacon Hills. A recent transfer, Allison is the quintessential new girl, capturing the eye of our hero, Scott McCall right away. She also catches the eye of resident popular girl, Lydia Martin. Jackson Whittemore, Lydia’s boyfriend, invites her to the lacrosse practice after school, and Allison only kind of accepts, Lydia dragging her along for the show. Scott’s excellent performance at the game causes Allison to become curious about him, but Lydia doesn’t know who he is. Not yet.
It’s not until later in the evening that Allison gets a chance to really talk to Scott. Granted, it’s under one of the least desirable ways for it to happen: Allison accidentally hits a dog with her car. Distraught, she takes the dog to the vet clinic where Scott just so happens to be closing up for the night. He agrees to help her, and the pair bond, a little. Scott works up the courage to ask Allison out to a party, and Allison accepts. THe party starts out alright, but Allison’s not the only one with a monthly problem. Scott’s a newly bitten werewolf, and the party is on the night of his first full moon. While dancing with Allison, he begins to turn, and Scott runs off, leaving her stranded. Luckily, Derek Hale is there to save the day (for the first and last time), and he offers Allison a ride home.
Allison gives Scott a second chance, and they go out on another, slightly more but not really, successful double date with Jackson and Lydia. The next morning, Allison’s Aunt Kate arrives in town, much to Allison’s delight. However, one more person in the house means one more person to catch Scott and Allison in the ‘trying to get to third base’ act; it’s Allison’s dad who catches them in the garage, though, not Kate. Scott is “invited” to stay for dinner, which he uses to his advantage to find a wolfsbane bullet like the one Kate had used to shoot Derek the night before. He’d make a shitty thief, though. Kate notices her bag is open, and after dinner, confronts Scott at the door. Allison swoops in to save her boyfriend. Turns out, she’d also stolen something from Kate earlier in the day: a condom.
As an ‘I’m sorry I’m an overprotective horrid bitch’ gift, Kate gives Allison her birthday present before she leaves for school in the morning. It’s a family heirloom, a large silver pendant with an inscribed picture of ‘The Beast of Gévaudan’. Kate makes a point to tell Allison that if she ever wants to learn about her family and it’s history, to start with the picture on the pendant. Allison’s got more pressing concerns, though, like the amount of balloons Lydia’s left in her locker for her birthday. Before she can finish hiding them, Scott approaches her about the balloons and card. He’s surprised to learn it’s her birthday, and comes to the (correct) assumption that Allison’s had to repeat a year at some point due to all the moving around she’s done in her life. Scott suggests they skip school so she won’t have to deal with people interrogating her about her birthday, and while initially hesitant, Allison ends up agreeing.
This (like most things in Teen Wolf) is a Bad Idea. Parent Teacher conferences are that night, and Allison’s parents learn she’s skipped the entire day. They find her in the parking lot as she and Scott are returning from their romantic day out in the woods, but any immediate punishment is interrupted by the timely arrival of a mountain lion, which Chris Argent shoots and kills. Allison is eventually grounded for the incident, but she still sneaks Scott in to see her anyway. They’re awful at paying attention, so when Kate knocks on Allison’s bedroom door, Allison shoves Scott into her closet to hide him from her Aunt. Allison tells Kate that she’s just been working on homework, a project for history about her family’s ancestry. She’s stuck on a topic, so Kate suggests she look up the Beast of Gévaudan, telling Allison that one of their long ago ancestors was the person who eventually trapped and killed the beast. Fascinated, Allison dives into researching her family’s history, along with the beast.
We see Allison again when Scott texts her, asking her to meet him at the high school. Along with Lydia and Jackson, Allison arrives, only to realize that they’re trapped in the building by the serial murderer plaguing the town. Scott reveals that the murderer is Derek Hale, and everyone who isn’t Stiles or Scott come to the conclusion he’s lured them into the building to kill them all. The final straw of Scott’s recent increasingly bizarre behavior for Allison is him abandoning his friends to die. Allison doesn’t know, but the real terror is the Alpha werewolf that bit Scott. The Alpha has Scott by the metaphorical balls, and is controlling him to transform into a wolf and terrorize his friends. Naturally, Scott can’t explain this to Allison, but without a good explanation, Allison says she can’t handle it anymore and calls their relationship off.
That night is a game changer for Allison in other ways, too. She asks her aunt for self defense lessons, but during one lesson, Allison breaks down and tells her how difficult she was having it with Scott and him lying, particularly about Derek Hale. She’s confused when Kate derails the conversation by demanding Allison tell her everything Scott’s told her about Derek Hale. Still confused by the increasingly hostile reactions of the members of her family, Allison, in another step to protecting herself, goes shopping for her old archery kit. She runs into Jackson at the sports shop, and he offers to be someone she can talk to. They sit in his car in the parking lot, and Allison reveals that she knows something is up with her family, that they’re hiding something from her. The night at the school is something she’s especially certain they’re keeping secrets about, but before she and Jackson can discuss it further, Scott attacks the vehicle in an uncontrolled werewolf berserker rage. Luckily, Derek Hale, newly returned from the supposed dead, is there to save them. Okay, I lied, that’s the last time he saves the day.
She’s out jogging the next afternoon when she runs by the old burnt down husk of Derek’s childhood home. Wanting answers to all the crazy shit that’s happening in her life since moving to Beacon Hills, she enters it. Her Aunt Kate sneaks up on her, having followed her out out of concern for her safety. Kate asks Allison why she’s there, and what she wants, and Allison answers that she wants to feel powerful. That night at the school had shaken her up more than she’d been letting on, and she hates feeling weak and pathetic. Allison doesn’t want to be rescued anymore. ‘Give me time,’ Kate says, promising Allison that she can give her just that.
Allison doesn’t sit around waiting, though, for Kate. She still has questions she wants answered, and she pilfers a strange looking arrowhead from her father’s weapon stash and drags Lydia out to the preserve with her to see what it does. To Lydia’s shock, and Allison’s surprise, it explodes into flames on impact. It’s not long after that Allison realizes they’re being followed, and she leaves her bow with Lydia and heads out in the direction she heard something, taking her tazer with her. She tases their stalker, but it’s just Scott, coming to return her missing pendant. He claims her father told him where she was, so he could return it when he found it. In actuality, he stole it from her so Stiles could help his father with the years old Hale Fire arson case.
She shows up later that night at his house to talk about her family, but Scott has an emergency regarding Peter Hale (aka the Alpha that bit him) taking his mother out on a date and has to leave. He promises Allison that he’ll be back, but he never returns. Her aunt ends up taking her to Hale house, where she shows Allison the secret her family’s been hiding, in the form of Derek, chained to a wall, in his werewolf form. Kate tortures Derek in front of her, telling Allison that he’s not human and isn’t a persona but an animal, and basically werewolves 101. She also tells Allison that her parents were probably never going to tell her the truth -- but that Kate believes in her. Understandably shaken up, on her way home, Stiles’ father pulls her over for speeding. In a desperate attempt to remain normal, she begs the Sheriff to give her a ticket. During their conversation, she realizes that this is how she can stop being that scared little girl, and afterwards, Allison takes her bow and starts practicing to help her aunt catch the second beta with a wanted poster of Derek.
The following school day at school, Scott threatens Jackson into taking Allison to the winter formal. Earlier that morning, Peter had threatened Allison to get to Scott, and since Scott is banned from going to the dance, the only person he knows to ask is Jackson, since he’s knowledgeable about their werewolfy plight. I have no idea why he doesn’t ask Stiles, as he probably would have been the smarter, less douchey, choice. At the very least, it’s not a terrible choice. While out dress shopping with Lydia, Peter creeps up on Allison and gives her fashion advice. Terrifying.
The formal itself starts out alright, but, again, this is Beacon Hills so it quickly goes to shit. While Scott manages to sneak into the dance, he doesn’t prevent Peter from attacking Lydia on the lacrosse field, leaving her nearly dead. Allison’s family has also shown up to kill the Alpha and his betas, and Scott reveals his werewolf identity to Allison during a confrontation with her father and his fellow hunters.
Everything’s a whirlwind after that. Allison’s parents insist that Kate take her to their safehouse in Washington, but Kate takes her to the hospital to see Lydia’s comatose and bloody body instead. It gives Allison the little push she needs to get on board with hunting the werewolves down, and it all culminates at Hale House. She and Kate confront Peter, who accuses Kate of being the one who burnt down Hale House, and demands she apologize. Kate does, but Peter says it doesn’t sound sincere, and rips her throat out, with Allison standing right there. In return, Allison uses her archery skills to aid Stiles, Jackson, Scott and Derek in killing Peter once and for all. She forgives Scott for not telling her his secret, and the pair rekindle their relationship.
