CHARACTER RECLAIMS

From now until endgame, Synodiporia is closed to new applications.

However, players who dropped or idled characters but who do not have a behavioral strike against them may reclaim characters at any time. Dungeons and app windows are no longer necessary. Simply comment below with "I'd like to bring [character (username)] back!" And we'll take it from there.

Players already at 3 characters who wish to bring back a 4th or 5th may do so so long as they're current on AC. Players wishing to bring in characters above 5 may request special mod permission.

If you are uncertain if you qualify to reclaim, please email us at synodiporians@gmail.com and ask!

Hajime Saitou / Hakuouki / Reserved

POINT OF DEPARTURE: N/A
ABILITIES: Saitou is human, so he doesn't have any supernatural abilities, but his skill with a sword is definitely worth noting. His swordsmanship is difficult to outmatch, and he is easily one of the strongest members of the Shinsengumi. (It's said that only Souji and Shinpachi are good matches for him.) Of course, each of the Shinsengumi's captains has their strengths and weaknesses, but Saitou's greatest strength comes in the form of a technique called Iai, in which one draws his sword and strikes, all in one single movement. Because of this, Saitou is extremely fast—he could end most fights before his opponent even has a chance to draw their sword. In addition to it being a difficult technique to master, Saitou is also left-handed, which is extremely uncommon among swordsmen due to most schools correcting left-handed pupils during instruction. Because it isn't commonly seen, many swordsmen don't know how to approach him, so there are very few outside of the Shinsengumi who can hope to compete with him.

Aside from this, Saitou is strong, and very capable of holding his own in a fight even without his weapon. Even though he's one of the youngest (and smallest) of the captains, he's incredibly strong and can take down a number of men with his hand-to-hand combat skills alone. If it weren't for his typically cool demeanor, it would be easy to underestimate the kind of warrior Saitou actually is.
INVENTORY; His katana and wakizashi. He probably had some money on him at the time, too, but his swords are the most significant.
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW? Nope!

S A M P L E S;
FIRST PERSON:
This form of communication strikes me as unstable and potentially invasive. [Also weird and kind of super uncomfortable, but he'd rather not put that out there.] I can see how it might be ideal for the situation, but I highly doubt it's secure. However, I cannot deny that it is quick and convenient. I am still unfamiliar with it, so I must ask that you bear with me.

[Really, he'd rather wait until he was more comfortable with it before trying to contact anyone, but... desperate times, desperate measures, etc.]

I am looking for someone. We were separated in the labyrinth, and I have not heard from them since. If you can hear this, please— [call him? think at him? How the hell does this even work, god.] —report. If you still require it, I will assist you.

[Or... try to... Look, he feels really bad about having lost them, okay.]
THIRD PERSON: This place was really beginning to try his patience.

See, Saitou was usually a pretty patient guy. It took a lot to get on his nerves, but an endless maze of doors and screens and apparently musical tatami mats— well, that was more than enough to do it. He may or may not have attempted to draw his sword multiple times on the shadowy creatures that disappeared just as fast as they appeared. (And let's not even talk about the ears or the tail. Just thinking about being seen with them was a little embarrassing, so he... tried not to think about it at all.) He wasn't even sure how he ended up here in the first place, but attempting to retrace his steps only seemed to make him even more lost. He was going nowhere fast and it was frustrating. Very, very frustrating.

Standing in front of yet another door, Saitou took a breath, reminding himself to remain calm. If he let this get to him, he'd definitely never find his way out of here, and he couldn't afford that. He had to find the others—if he was trapped here, then they might be trapped here, too. His goals once again fresh in his mind, he put a hand on the door in front of him and slid it open.

...only to find yet another hall with yet another door at the end of it. Sighing to himself in exasperation, he stepped forward, quietly annoyed with himself for somehow managing to fall into this trap.
