CHARACTER RECLAIMS

From now until endgame, Synodiporia is closed to new applications.

However, players who dropped or idled characters but who do not have a behavioral strike against them may reclaim characters at any time. Dungeons and app windows are no longer necessary. Simply comment below with "I'd like to bring [character (username)] back!" And we'll take it from there.

Players already at 3 characters who wish to bring back a 4th or 5th may do so so long as they're current on AC. Players wishing to bring in characters above 5 may request special mod permission.

If you are uncertain if you qualify to reclaim, please email us at synodiporians@gmail.com and ask!

REVISIONS.

On the whole, this is an excellent app, but before we can accept it, we'd like to ask for a few small changes.

1) If it's not objectionable to you, can we ask that the canon point be moved to before the Doctor became 4.5 billion years old? Really we'd rather ask Steven Moffat to change this, but you're here and he is not. If it's very important to you to play after this canon point this revision (unlike the others) is open to discussion and negotiation.

2) While we don't dispute the accuracy of your suggested powercap list, the largest number of Liminal & Psychic skills we recall ever granted to an incoming character is 8. If you'd prefer, we can trim down this list ourselves (we were thinking 6 psychic and 2 liminal skills, or maybe 5 & 3), but if there are specific powers you really want to maintain, we thought we'd give you a chance to pick them out. Often powerful telepaths entering the game find themselves very restricted by their new capabilities (the aforementioned 8-skill powercap was Charles Xavier), and learning how to cope with the restrictions is, we hope, part of the fun!

3) Finally, we'd like to request a new prose sample, reacting to a more dynamic situation so that we get a better sense for the Doctor's reactions and emotions when interacting with others, rather than pure introspection.

These revisions may be submitted to us any time between now and 11:15 AM CST, April 3rd. Thank you for applying to Synodiporia, and we hope you'll be joining us soon!

Before I put work into any revisions, I need more details about your first request. Right now it reads as an OOC opinion. (IE "We'd rather ask Steven Moffat to change this, but you're here and he is not.") I need a better reason than that since such a request would mean I would have to completely rewrite his app.

As moderators, we have a strong preference for scale, perspective, and believability which are better served by a character whose age measures in the thousands than in the billions. As a character who spent 4.5 billion years repeating one thing recursively, the Doctor would, believably, be defined by that moment alone; the rest of his existence being a rounding error at best. It somewhat stretches credulity, and if possible we prefer to avoid that.

As noted, this point is negotiable, if it's important to you to play the Doctor past that canon point. It looks to us like there are only a few lines of your app which rely on this episode, so it doesn't seem to require a complete re-write, if that's the point of contention. We do have other characters (Death of the Endless) who are similarly cosmic in age and perspective, so either way, this isn't a dealbreaker from our perspective.

In this case, please get rid of both levels of Psychic Detection and keep the rest.
