S A M P L E S;
FIRST PERSON: They’re called Jaunts.

[Sorry, hope you weren’t doing anything, Travelers! Garrett is feeling rather annoyed there’s so many dumb questions being thrown around with all the new people here. So he’s going to be super helpful.]

Get to know them, and get to know who’s familiar with them. There’s several of us here who’ve been doing this for a while. They can tell you what’s going on.

You’ll get downtime in between, but don’t waste it. We don’t know when or where we’re being sent. Be ready. If you want suggestions, go ask someone.

[A pause, and you can practically see him rolling his eyes.]

Just don’t bother asking me. I won’t be helpful.

[Which is actually a goddamn lie, but details~ He’ll help if you constantly bother him. Isn’t he great?]

(I also have this, if the sample is too short!)

THIRD PERSON:

Garrett hates it when people pry.

Back home in the Clocktower, it was never a problem. That was his hideout, his space. No one got in unless he wanted, and he could come and go as much as he pleased.

Here, he doesn’t really have that luxury. Sure, he’s with others, but that’s also the problem. He’s with others. And if anything, they’re the type who like to stick their noses where they don’t belong, and that just makes all of this worse. He wants to work on making more arrows? Oh, hey Garrett, what are you making, can I see, here, let me come bother you in your space until you want to hit me over the head with the Blackjack. He wants to have time by himself and away from everyone? Nope, try again, there’s always at least one person who wants to bug him at the wrong time.

Honestly, sometimes he really wonders if the reason he was brought here was so the gods or whoever wanted a good laugh at his misery.

Still, if anything, these Jaunts have given him for more skills and taught him more than the City ever could. Being pushed across different worlds, different times- it’s definitely new, and it puts everything he has to the test quite often. In a sense, they remind him of the heists of home, of being shoved into buildings full of guards, scaling walls and walking across catwalks above the heads of others, all on his way to steal some of the greatest loot the City carried. It was thrilling, challenging, and most importantly? He got out unscathed, loot in hand, same as always.

There’s a reason he’s call a Master Thief, after all. Any other amateur would be either dead or caught instantly, and then hung by the end of the night.

The sound of someone talking nearby shoves the thief out of his thoughts, and his eyes shift to notice the opening of the portal. Finally. He grabs his bow and arrows, makes sure he has any equipment he needs, then raises an eyebrow. He has no idea where this will go, what will happen, but each Jaunt is different and challenging in its own right, and that, perhaps, is what he enjoys most about them.

Time to go.
