Jack is likely a semi-regular visitor at the bar because boy does he need a drink because everything is shit and he's not well appreciated enough. Not on the bar of alcoholism, but from time to time.
Jean is currently in the pool for a plot role, so I will get back to plotting things with him in a separate comment. He'll be infiltrating regardless.
Yosuke will do his very first Infiltrator Persona and share a 'room' with a guy called Jesse Parker. He's pretty much that one guy who appears to assist in projects and do small things like deliveries, but who has made it very clear he wants to become a star...! So Yosuke will attempt to help him achieve his dream while getting used to this new skill of his.
Pidge will be investigating and pose as an assistant by her name Katie Holt. She'll be mostly invested in teasing Ted (Shiro) and trying to encourage him to make a move on Matt's overlay.
Jack Mustang (early fourties) is a star from the silent film era. He was famous and a hell of a good actor who was pushed out of the acting world, thanks to new actors and talking films. Now he's insanely rich and bored, and looking to return in front of the silver screen.
The thing is, his personality makes him hard to co-operate with. He's selfish, annoying and acts like a diva at any given chance. He still thinks he's the biggest and brightest star. It's the movies that suck these days, not him. Never him.
He lives in a Mansion with his little sister Juliet (Usagi) and has a Norwegian Forest cat called Marco von Buttercup Third.
He has an incredily secret soft spot for two things: cats and little kids. Otherwise he tends to hate everything with a quiet passion.
So a.) Phillip hung around Vineland as a kid, his parents were low-level studio workers and he was absolutely fascinated by everything and probably tried to talk to people and b.) now as a 'talkies' actor, he sees the fall of silent film actors as a potential warning for him and how replaceable even the most talented are.
Sara will be Personinfiltrating as young actress Sarah Preston (and laughing awkwardly at that surname for reasons), working on the set of a cheesy adaptation of a 30's space opera pastiche as the capable love interest (and rumored off-set girlfriend) of the young Dirk SquarejawSlab BulkheadKimball Kinnison hero of the story. She may be trying to get a minor role in the noir movie as well.
Anyone interested in being a teen or young adult sci-fi actor infildating her? How about infilDadding or infilMomming?
I'm going to fling Nabiki face-first at the Producer role, but failing that she's going to try to get herself embedded into the noir movie as some kind of logistics person - handling the catering, something indispensable like that, the better to Investigate with, my dear.
I'm going to try and have Berne as the author of the noir novel, but failing that she's going to be Infiltrating as an actress since childhood, who's very tired of being typecast as a cackling villain and is looking for a breakout romantic or heroic role. Wish miss Erica Reis the best of luck in that regard.
Anyone who's worked alongside her hamming it up as various wicked witches and femme fatales are welcome.
Christina T. Waverly is the big-name producer at Trancendent, and she's going to make The Phantom Thief a blockbuster if it kills her.
Among other things, this means figuring out how to give it "broad audience appeal,' whatever that means, and having long and luxurious business lunches with people who can make or break the damn film. She's going to micromanage the hell out of everyone, please save them from this nightmare.
Tempted to have Sara and Armin be related somehow, or close friends or something. I'd suggest infildating, but Armin's not an actor and it sounds like he's older than her.
Nabiki and Armin undoubtedly going to work together, though Armin's super intimidated by Nabiki. Also may or may not be related.
Ted's a bartender at the Last Cut, and just got recently hired as a fresh new upcoming talent for a bit part police officer in the film! He's open and friendly and very good at helping his customers calm down and have a little relaxing break from all the rigmarole.
So Sarah - Shirley Temples, Dreamsicles, Roy Rogers, Arnold Palmers, Brown Pelicans...? What sort of non-alcoholic beverage do you like?
Ms. Waverly - Wine? Mixed drinks? Something harder? Are you a whisky person? Or is gin and tonic more your style?
Miss Reis? For you? Guessing people automatically assume you're a red wine person, but I think you might be tired of that.
SO-- Gabriela "Gabe" LeBlanc is a veteran-ish actor who started in the industry by doing stunt double work - and still does her own nowadays, most of the time.
In her early thirties now, Gabe has been doing this since she first became an adult; never quite getting a major role, but a fairly persistent secondary in smaller movies. Mostly she made a name for herself as a highly competent stuntperson, always willing to do her own fight scenes and horse throws or what-have-you, until a bit role got her noticed by higher ups, and landed her increasingly large roles until she got This One.
She's extremely good friends with Riddick's overlay, and currently engaged to Phillip's.
(She's not fully aware the engagement is just a publicity stunt; she's always had a crush on Phillip, so the announcement just exacerbated that. She's not stupid, though, she's seen how the gossip rags go fucking NUTS over the slightest scrap of gossip they can get on her and her fiancee.)
Ssssssssssssssssssssssssso~ Ted's a bartender at the Last Cut, and just got recently hired as a fresh new upcoming talent for a bit part police officer in the film! He's open and friendly and very good at helping his customers calm down and have a little relaxing break from all the rigmarole.
How does Gabe like her drinks? Does she have a favorite? Or a favorite type? ...She's like. Scotch and whisky isn't she.
Shiro will be Infiltrating as Tadashi "Ted" Smith!
Age: 25 Professions: semi-professional bartender, newbie small-time actor, newbie stuntman Common Locations: The Last Cut, his apartment, action sequence stages, gymnasium, stuntmen's practice Appearance: All black hair, no scarring
Pretty calm and cheerful, likes to try and help everyone, a little starstruck. He's been working at The Last Cut as a bartender for about 2 years now, not really expecting anything more, and when he tossed out a combative drunk one night he almost dropped him on the casting director for the latest film. Who gaped at him. And then offered him a job as a background cop with like. Two speaking lines. Since then Ted's life has been a little hectic, learning the interior workings of the film and training in the stunt work necessary. He may also have a really obvious crush on the stunt coordinator (Matt Holt). Like. Painfully obvious. It's bad.
Tad's a good guy to know on a casual, friendly basis, to have told secrets to or to talk to when you're down. He's also a good guy to have with you in a fight. He's also pretty open to being hijacked into being the bartender at your weekend party. Just please don't talk shit about the military in front of him. That's a hot button for him.
Jack is likely a semi-regular visitor at the bar because boy does he need a drink because everything is shit and he's not well appreciated enough. Not on the bar of alcoholism, but from time to time.
Seifer is Infiltrating as an actor who has been (hilariously) typecast as a Villain/Bad Guy since he did a film (TV? Movie? IDK) a few years ago as one and was wildly popular as such.
He tends to also get jobs in period pieces because he's handy with a sword and can wear plate mail effectively. He's like a villainous male Keira Knightly.
He's dating Pinya's overlay.
Malik (Invoking Royal Treatment) Is Doug Jones an actor and stunt man who tends to be in ridiculous costumes (Monsters, he does monsters), he's also the owner/head stuntman of a Stunt Team and teaches folks how to properly do crazy freefall stunts.
He has a house on the lot and is a generally chill guy who tends to feed whoever shows up and let newbies having a rough time crash on his couch, he Dads at people with gentle insistence.
Malik is also in his late 40's/early 50's this jaunt.
Malik and Matt probably know each other at least in passing. Matt's a stunt coordinator who mostly specializes in fight scenes and teaching people how to do basic stunt work.
He's a noodle that shouldn't be as strong as he is, basically.
Chloe will be investigating. She’s going to try and get a job driving people around the complex- it’s a great way to get gossip and also if she sees a vehicle but doesn’t get to drive she might combust.
Wash is the author, H. G. Washburne. The G stands for Greg. If asked, the H is just part of his penname and definitely not part of his real name which is so not Hoban. He started making up stories with shadowpuppets which evolved into novels and now one's getting made into a movie. He also has a little girl named Rose who likes to tag along. NPC Zoe is in the background somewhere, Rose loves when that happens.
Jaina will be investigating and getting mistaken for a groupie a-kriffing-gain. SHe's opting to embrace it because hey no one thinks the groupie is up to anything. Also probably getting involved with rigging lights. :p
McGonagall will be infiltrated as an on set tutor for child/teen actors.
Death is either going to be involved in some sort of weird experimental film or a kids' movie I haven't decided yet.
Mikasa is going to be infiltrating as a wardrobe creator, her name will most likely be Ai Hughes and she has a toddler called Sakura... who is going to be maaaaaaaaybe 2,5 or somewhere around toddler age either way, happily living with her mom as an extremely curious little kid. May need babysitters sometimes during the jaunt??
Ai herself is possibly somewhere in early or mid 20s unless I make her even younger for some reason but maybe not, she is from an insanely rich family and Royal Treatment helps with that, so they probably have a much bigger house than these two need ... at least she can use some room(s) as some kind of a showcase of her work. They might also have a friendly dog or two, one of them is a puppy and Sakura keeps talking about how she wants a kitten or a bunny and also more dogs too.
She's also friendly and social and not suspicious of everyone / hard to earn trust from like Mikasa is and she'll gladly make any kind of wardrobe stuff for anyone anywhere!! (So she'll be like Winry of this world with wardrobe creating skills instead of automails and no, despite her last name, she won't show pictures of Sakura to everyone all the time... she'll have pictures that you can look at if you want to but she'll also have Sakura with her most of the time.)
Usagi will be infiltrating as Juliet Mustang, Jack the Former Star's little sister and living in a huge af mansion with him with their or his money. Her PB will be Naomi Watts, she will be like excuse me but I have seen my older self in the future back home and that is not what she looks like even tho she was beautiful too lol.
She is 30 and working around the catering for this jaunt, possibly considering starting her own business and her personality might be kind of like the opposite of Usagi even when she is possibly nice on the outside.
Or idek, that one (personality) is still open in the air but she is open to any kind of infilCR!
She loves her samoyed pup, Aurora, who is with her for the jaunt! She is amazing to her at least but unlike her brother, she is one of the worst people with kids/babies... Not that she will do anything bad to them, she just ... has no idea what do with them, never plans to get any herself.
Banjou will be investigating, posing as a stuntman for one of the other movies that's around. He's a (former) boxer, he'll be fine.
Naoya, on the other hand, is the Director. His overlay's name is Sampson Kennedy. He's stressed from all this shit that he has to juggle but knows everyone on set - so new people will probably have to pass by him at some point. Infiltrated people on the set of his movie, feel free to hit me up for previous interaction hashing-out.
Sento will be investigating, endlessly frustrated by the technology levels here, and be aggressively sciencing at things--he'll probably end up doing some kind of effects work.
Hajime will be infiltrating as Ace Hart, motorcycle stuntman extraordinaire. Ryo will be infiltrating as his young son, Ricky. (Who knows where this kid came from, where his mother is, why he's not better supervised, we just don't know.) But anyway, Ace's hobbies include motorcycle jumping over things that shouldn't be jumped over and setting a terrible example for his son, who is armed with a tricycle of his very own.
Phillip Daniels, formerly Durand but his agent insisted he change it to something 'more American' for broader appeal, is Lead Actor 1. He's been in the industry since he was about 17, doing a mix of acting/singing/modeling, and broke through when he was 20 in a film the studio had already written off but turned into box office gold thanks to his sheer talent as the lead. He's never been out of work since.
To this day he's considered to be one of the most talented and beloved stares in Vineland, but he is aware that the industry is fickle and is therefore always very worried about it all being taken from him- which is how he got roped into this stupid publicity stunt by the Producer. He's already regretting it, if only for the way the tabloids seem to be trying to use anything he does to smear his otherwise very favorable reputation.
He also grew up around Vineland (his parents were both very low-level studio workers, so he was around enough to know how badly he wanted to be on screen but never had the connections on their own to get him in), so if your character has been in the industry for a while they might have known him as a child!
Rose is the Girl Next Door: Rose de Witte, daughter of famous director Blanche de Witte and currently working in set design... although people with long memories might remember a spunky moppet of a child star from fifteen years ago whose stage name was Rosie de Witte, very much in the vein of Shirley Temple. She retired from acting once she hit that awkward puberty stage and realized she liked making things better anyway.
Phillip's her best friend and has been since they were kids running around the soundstages together. (His parents worked for her mom.) She has a terrible crush on Gabe LeBlanc but sssshhhh, it's a secret.
ANYWAY, if anyone else wants to be friends or colleagues or whatever, I'm very open to that.
Thorne is going to be straight-up regular Investigating and she'll probably go into script-writing? There's got to be some science fiction film on the lot that could use her special touch. (Maybe she can sneak Deeper Stuff into the script.)
Helena is going to be Investigating as well, so maybe a team-up with Thorne on a sci fi film? (I would love it if there's randomly a War of the Worlds adaptation going on.)
Yukino is Infiltrating as Yuki "Snow" White, a former child actor who didn't see much success in that area but did discover a knack for photography, which she's parlayed into a career as a studio photographer. Just don't call her Snow; she always did hate that nickname.
Raidou is Infiltrating as Noel Fayard, scion of a family of stage and screen actors who've been at this for multiple generations now. He started as a child and has been doing this straight into adulthood; there are of course grumblings about nepotism, which he counters by being very good at what he does (which is mostly dramatic acting and/or dance, although he's made a few forays into light comedy here and there). The problem is that this is pretty much all he's done, and he's honestly not sure he likes it very much. He's currently working on a musical whose title and plot I'm still trying to figure out. He may or may not write the occasional bit of pulp fiction under a pseudonym. He also may or may not end up being supplanted by Raidou next month, much to the latter's probable chagrin.
