[Translation: I know that I've already hurt you, and as much as I hate it, I know the future is uncertain enough that I may frighten or hurt you again. It's just a fact of life. I always find myself wondering, wanting to know more, even though we never have really had the time to sit down and just talk. [I don't know if I can afford to open up to you, or to anyone else for that matter. I'm pretty sure that I'd break, and none of us can afford that. I don't know if I could be what you and the others need me to be at that point. I wasn't made to bear all of this weight but damn it I have to try! I'm not going to give up and fall apart on you. I respect you too much for that. But that means I have to keep it together, and doing that means not showing how weak I actually am. I'll handle it. I have before, and I will now. You won't lose your paladin, Allura, and we're not going to lose this war. Not if I have to personally crush the life from every Galra commander in the Empire.
But yeah... I think I agree. Let's focus on learning how to be people again, not just soldiers for a while. You ought to have some more friends and have a little fun before we have to go back.
I honestly don't know how I would feel to know that you and Haggar share the same heritage and the same magic. It frightens me, yeah. But more because that shows just how perverted and twisted she's become. It shows what she could have been and makes her even more horrifying when held up to your example. I've seen you use that same magic to heal an entire world, Allura. You're not like her. But she's living proof that you could be if you fell. But... on the other hand... If she's Altean, that means that you might not be the only Alteans alive after all. Maybe there are other pockets of your people out there, living in hiding. You know I'm right there with you when we can try to locate them. You deserve to have a family too.]
