Questing Country: The Next Jaunt.

QUESTING COUNTRY
July 22nd - August 26th

Nobody knows quite how Questing Country works. Any species who are capable of lucid dreams can enter it. Six Known Worlds are connected to it - planets which may or may not remember one another in the waking world, but whose Chosen have formed alliances through Questing Country for thousands of years. The landscape changes, but the place is real - anyone who dreams of Questing Country vanishes from their bed, and wakes up with the wounds, marks, or treasures they earned there. But a few things are clear: it taps into the most powerful beliefs in the minds of sentient beings. When those beliefs are too dangerous, Questing Country births strange talking beasts who lend abilities to the young, the only people hopeful and naive enough to believe one person really can change the world - and so, they’re the only people who ever have the chance to change it.

But there’s more to Questing Country than the Champions it anoints and their dangerous lives and uncertain fates. These troublesome beliefs - they take shape, too. The Fire Mushrooms range out from the place called Nuclear Winter. Hordes of Men in Black come from Conspiracy Country. If they’re not stopped here, they gain power in the dreams of the Known Worlds… and those are only a few of the more obvious ones.

Sometimes, though, the untapped powers of Questing Country find other shapes, as well. There are unstable nodes of energy called Valences that appear only a few times a generation… and when they do, Champions and Oracles and Adversaries all fling themselves into Questing Country with wild abandon. Because every Champion has some belief they’re fighting for, some hope they want to come true… and deep in their hearts, every Champion believes that one day, if they’re strong enough and pure enough, it will. The Valence is that belief, taken shape, the hope of hopes, the power to make dreams come true in an instant… but because Champions believe they have to prove themselves worthy, well, they’re right about that, too. To gain the Valence, they first have to succeed in a series of tests, tests that will send them against their friends and allies from across the worlds...

Hitsugaya will be Investigating this time around because he will think this is all bizarre but he can be pulled into things by sweet, enthusiastic people. He'll wind up becoming an Oracle of Ice. Since, despite his looks, he's actually kind of old (by human standards) and is more the practical type than the optimistic type. And his element being Ice is a complete no-brainer. What else would it be, even?

So. People to pull him into shenanigans, fellow Oracles, Champions he might actually be able to mentor. (Hey, he is a leaderly-type person, after all.)

Near will be Infiltrating as a Hecatite and . . . Oracle of Toys! Because the toys had to be a theme, okay? They just do. Still working on the specific powers, but Lego defensive walls will definitely be a thing. He's just recently attained Oracle status, having lost a bit of his optimism when Mello went Adversary. He really wanted to be friends and work together, man. It's all very sad for him. Oh, and he'll be aged down to about 15 or so, as if that makes a difference for him physically. :P

Anyhow. (Former) mentors would be great, as he's really new to this whole Oracle thing. Anybody who taught him stuff would likely still be around. People who were Champions with him, people he can try and dispense Oracle-type wisdom to . . . Anything, really. Throw it at me.

I think a little down the line he could learn about it, yes. And be kind of sad, but not hopeless about it.

They need it. They're alike in the right ways to be kind of drawn to each other's company, I think. That calm, intellectual type -- despite Near's element being toys. Being a Hecatite, Near would certainly be eager for knowledge and definitely up for more sedate interactions because that species tires easily. Sit and discuss intellectual stuff, strategies, and whatnot. Possibly even confide in him a little bit about how sad he is about what's going on with Mello.

If'n you want a no-nonsense sort of Oracle to take Near under her wing, I respectfully offer Zoe. She will warrior-mother anybody, bro.

And Neeshka totally needs to help haul Hitsu into shenanigans sometime.

Let us plan for that then :3 I dunno that they'd wind up in the same Bond or anything (unless you want 'em to?) but she'll definitely look out for him either way!

Hm, not sure what I'm doing about Bonds yet, but Near is an itty bitty thing who would definitely look like he needs protecting and she could help teach him how to use his powers to their best advantage. He's potentially very versatile, because toys can cover a broad range of things.
