He's an American Cave Lion sphinx with a snow leopard's markings (an almost purple gray over a very pale gray) and very long fluffy tail. He's actually really large for a sphinx! He stands at a little over 4'6'' at the shoulder and over 7' total. He has a ruff of fluff down his back and on his shoulders, and his hair is equally fluffy. He also has snow leopard ears, but they tend to get lost in his hair. Has a habit of petting or wringing his tail when he's nervous... which is most of the time.
Acantha arrived last year with the foundlings, and immediately proved himself terribly shy and awkward with interacting with people. He gets overwhelmed easily, and will sneak away to hide somewhere quiet when he can. He frets and worries constantly.
On the other hand, he wants to help people and be useful so bad! And overworks himself recklessly because of it. Within the first couple weeks, he managed to overwork himself in the fields so badly that he collapsed unconscious, and ever since he's had splitting headaches and seizures, which he tries to hide, but isn't very successful at.
He always feels so guilty when other people have to take time away from their work to help him, and tries to make gifts, or sneakily do their work at night (resulting in poor sleep and worsening his condition) in repayment. This tends to backfire and lead to more guilt and anxiety that blooms into outright avoidance half the time.
Acantha is actually pretty skilled, quick to learn, and has dexterous hands (he's quick on his paws too)... when he isn't too nervous/terrified. He's tried just about all the occupations by now, and has had accidents or hurt himself at least once in most of them. He either takes on too much, and doesn't complete it or makes mistakes, or he gets nervous and fumbles things. But when there's help to keep him from getting too upset, or from doing too much, he does excellent work. He just... feels so bad about being a burden on people that he doesn't ask for help. He's also actively terrified of some of the more stern members of the community, or those with prickly personalities.
In short: Acantha is a shy and socially anxious mess with trouble maintaining relationships. Anybody want to try to get close to him regardless, and/or be giving him (another) chance at their occupation?
