Angelic lore in this Jaunt is a blend of Christian, Islamic, Judaistic, and Zoroastrian sources. For purposes of this Jaunt, rather than confirming any one religious worldview, the Rightful Celestial Authority - god or gods - is referred to as The Divine, which is an ambiguous noun and may be either singular or collective. The Sithen are ruled by a Queen; Hell by an Infernal Parliament.
The previous jaunt concerned the theft of a piece of the Name of the Divine, all of which together created the world; any one piece retains the power to grant a wish or obliterate a town. The thief brought the piece to Melasurei, where it was the subject of a massive scavenger hunt and ultimately used by a Traveler to give substance to the Peregrines and prevent a demon from taking it to Hell. This constituted the first played-out jaunt failure in Syn’s history, and the first failed jaunt since Belljar Island, in backstory.
