There would be rats from the previous ships, as well as some other native island fauna. At this time they would not be diseased. I will get a list of what sorts of creatures on the island to you ASAP.

Oh god they're gonna have to worry about rats taking over the island, right? Because that is.. what generally happens after introduction....

Also at this time, whoops, oh no. But it's good that they're not actually Stricken since that's basically the end of the Jaunt right there. Everyone gets eaten by rats, the end, as someone put it.

Also, I guess plants, too, because damnit Green Ranger. Maybe just find an island that you like the flora/fauna of and call it a day? I don't want to be too much of a headache, lmao.

There would already have been Pacific Rats on Crownbreaker - there have been shipwrecks on the shoals for centuries, so the local ecosystem has long since adapted, although there are pretty much no other local mammals except some small monkey populations that don't do so well, and alarmingly large, fat guinea pigs (both of which must be leftovers from shipwrecks).

There is one freshwater fish in the interior region; the grey mullet.

There are crabs (including coconut crabs one meter across), urchins, starfish, tuna, porpoises, and coral in the waters, along with many smaller fish I won't bother enumerating.

Birdwise, there are tropical doves and pigeons, terns and gulls, and a wide variety of parrots, budgies, cockatiels, etc. The largest local bird is an albatross.

Notable plants: date palms, coconut trees, bulrushes, strangler figs, toromiro trees, soldierbush, magos, guavas, tapioca, liana vines.

In general, small Polynesian islands and atolls are a good model for what's likely to be found here.

Yay, I didn't destroy the ecosystem with my questions!

And that's a lot of detail—exactly what I needed. Thank you so very much. I'll put this to good use!

Edit: also noting here tarantulas and other arthropods of unusual size are also on the islands from what Matt just told me on plurk.

Like so or more specifically beetles, wetas, pill-millipedes, and bird-eating spiders.

See, Drizzt is okay with all of those except the bird-eating spiders. He will quietly NOPE at that. I enjoy this all greatly.
