Kanji's really the only one who can get away with hugging Naoki on a regular basis. He does take Rise's hand for a moment, though; not like he can't appreciate what she's trying to do.

I remember how burnt out you were when you first got to town - really, that had to be half of why everyone else assumed your grandmother was the only one there."
