Alcuin blinks in surprise, regarding him in silence for a moment before releasing a slow breath. "My apologies. I didn't mean to frighten you." He tilts his head in a respectful not-quite bow, keeping his voice gentle and level. "My name is Alcuin. I'm pleased to meet you, even if I could wish for better circumstances. You're not at home anymore, though I take it you've guessed as much. Where we are is somewhat more complicated, and I'm not certain I can explain it well. Each of us has been brought here to help right wrongs in other worlds, if I'm understanding it properly."
Smiling wryly, he shakes his head slightly, opening a hand in a 'you see?' gesture. "Liminal space is what it's called when we're between worlds. It's... well, even stranger than this."
Alcuin leans down to put his head on a level with Armin's, pointing out Joscelin's stern, blond form across the room. "Do you see him? That's Joscelin. He's been doing this longer than nearly anyone else. It's his writing on the door, warning us to stay inside. But at the moment, I'm more concerned with your injuries. Can you sit up?"
