[To be fair his decision hadn't been made with the most noble of intentions in mind. He really had wanted to be the hero. To be the one to solve the case for the police and haul in the culprit to resounding applause from the whole town. But there wasn't really a place for him in that scenario. He has the brains but Yu had more raw power. Better leadership instincts...better everything really. It had been a point of contention at one point, but that was all behind him.
